Such a high opening is definitely possible, the legs are the real mystery. (please don't respond with a image/gif of Godzilla's legs or any other cast member)

Not being a smart alec or anything, but what sort of variety is there in Zilla films? What could they do if a sequel gets off the ground?

I know Gareth Edwards wants to do a sequel in the vein of Destroy All Monsters.

SEXY. AS. ****.

Thank you for linking that Brolly.

No problem. It may be fanmade, but it potrays the lumbering mountainous destructive quality perfectly.

A friend of mine was telling me that he thought this movie looked stupid because (in his opinion) it looks like the 1998 Godzilla movie.

After staring at him dumbfounded for about 10 or 20 minutes, I did my best to convince him that this movie will be nothing like that. Seriously though, how can anyone think this looks bad? Even if you don't like these types of movie... just everything here looks fantastic.

In general, comments like that make me cringe and scratch my head. Back on topic: the trailers for G'98 and G'14 are incredibility different. Sure, both were suspenseful and eventful even with their action sequences; but, G'98 was entertainment, as those promos showed. G'14 shows drama, emotions, which by comparison shows itself as a film with a story than G'98's case which was simply a popcorn flick. Saying both films are the same is not only weird, it's not even close to being true.

That would be all kinds of amazing!

Indeed! If this takes off and this turns into a new American Godzilla franchise, I think a Destroy All Monsters like film should be the third film in the series.

So is G simply referred to as "the creature" or some such throughout the film? I'm wondering what kind of rationale would be in play for giving it's traditional name.

so who are the human bad guys in the film?

I notice that there is no flame breath in the trailers. I wonder if it ends up being used.

"Godzilla is battling the monster sir"

"Godzilla?"

"That's what everyone is calling him"

Since Godzilla has been around since the 50s and probably longer, they can easily say that Pacific islanders called the creature Gojira in their tongue.

There are no human bad guys.

The atomic breath is being kept under wraps, as to not spoil the surprise.

Heh, it's funny you say that as Man of Steel is the reason why the origin in this movie was altered.

I honestly wonder how you make a sequel to a film like this, that doesn't either feel like a retread, or just not that special. How do you get a Empire or TDK when the first film is all about the awe and will feature monster on monster violence.

Instead of parodying Ebert and Roper this new film will take on a new generation of critics, Harry Knowles and Devin Faraci.

A Godzilla remain was to be discovered in Siberia, but there was another potential scene similar to that in Man of Steel so it was changed.

My nephew saw the trailer for this and really wants to go. He's only 8, but I think that's okay? Hell, he saw Jaws a few years ago and loves it.

My birthday is the 14th got my ticket for the 15th at 7:00 :) Imax 3d
