Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

As ever my review of any film, is go see it myself and form my own opinion, F**k reviews in magazines or on-line and especially Rotten F**king Tomatoes.

Definitely I got my ticket for tomorrow. I've enjoyed plenty of trashy kaiju flicks growing up :shrugs:

Critics put out the hit on King of the Monsters. Who Would You Trust More? Yourself or a Troll Behind a Keyboard!

Why do people constantly say f**k rotten tomatoes as if they do reviews? All they do is aggregate those magazine and on-line reviews you already said f**k to.

As for the picture did anyone expect critics to like a film that just features a bunch of giant monsters smashing things and each other for 2 hours. As one of them said its basically a Bay Transformers movie with Kaju. That's fine with me I liked several of the Transformers films (1 and 3) so I will probably like this.

The only issue I have is the criticism that all the actions takes place in the dark. I had the same problem with the first Godzilla film. Kong Skull Island on the other hand had all the action take place in daylight where you could see everything clearly. I wonder why they went back to having everything in the dark again.

who knows. I've seen multiple reviews that say the action takes place during the day as well

I'm just expecting to be entertained. I was never a big Godzilla fan; always preferred King Kong, but we'll see, I'm mostly seeing this for the big showdown. 23 hours to go..

Question is do I use my giftcard for Godzilla or next week's Dark Phoenix?

Enjoyed this quite a lot.

The monster action and visuals are incredible - the sound design is just out of this world.

But the human characters in this film bring a few points down for me - they are boring, make stupid decisions and are literally indestructable no matter what situation they get into. I really don't know how they survived the things that happen in this film.

They are almost useless in the film and i think 2 hours without them and just monster action would get the film a better rating lol

7.5/10

Aside from Mechagodzilla or Destoroyah, I really hope we get aliens for the sequel.

Holding out hope that Zhang Ziyi’s characters might be one.

Will watch this Sunday, but yikes, I never thought this would get worse reviews than Pikachu and Aladdin.

TOMATOMETER 45%

  • Average Rating: 5.39/10
  • Total Count: 83
  • Fresh: 37
  • Rotten: 46

Remember when people were calling BvS the worst Superman or Batman movie yet? And people were like, "that is BS, the critics are wrong, no way that is worse then Batman and Robin and the Quest for Peace" and then you saw it and were like, "damn... damn."

I get that, but at the same time just by virtue that this actually resembles Godzilla, Ghidorah, etc, it wins lol

Too be fair, that is all I heard about BvS as well. That it looked just like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. :hehe:

Audiences loved King of the Monsters but critics don’t want you to see it… The question is why??? Trust the people and see it for yourself!

Critics aren't actually a group and they don't have an agenda. There's no organizing. They just give their opinions. The movie just might not be that good.

Also, audiences probably aren't showing up for this either much. It's tracking for barely 50m this weekend.

But as with a lot of the big action flicks we make, it seems to be tracking well overseas. But it doing so little stateside, especially consider what the first two did, it does seem people might already be tired of these.
