I’m from Toronto and we also hate Boston (because of their sports teams/rivalry)But this was a different kind of satisfaction man. You know NYC and Boston... we hate each other’s guts lol.
That’s not how you spell JaegerLet me find out Ghidorah was Shenron in disguise.
All we needed were some Gundams to take down the Titans and this movie would’ve been a 10.
$179 million worldwide so far, from a $170 million budget. We can hope, can't we?

Re “nothing left for him to do”:Kong vs. Godzilla will probably be the end of the Monsterverse which is fine by me. After he fights Ghidorah and Kong there is nothing left for him to do anyway. Unless WB can get the license for Gamera and have a Godzilla vs. Gamera showdown.
I think Legendary's agreement with Toho ends for Godzilla, Rodan etc after Godzilla/Kong. If the box office returns for GKOM is low they will probably let the license lapse.
Don't expect much legs for this movie. It's drop from its opening day take through the weekend was poor and it will probably have a big drop next weekend as well.
Using this type of logic, Avatar2 is doomed to failAnd that's the problem. 5 years is way too long to wait for a sequel nowadays. Especially if a character isn't making any other apperances in team up films etc.
With the number of blockbusters coming out every month, you can't let the audience forget about you. And they will just due to the sheer bombardment of blockbusters. You have to be really really good to be able to take a 5 year break.
Nowadays I think it you have to make the sequel within 3 years or you're running a huge risk. After that you might as well wait some more time and do one of those long awaited sequels like Tron Legacy or something
Using this type of logic, Avatar2 is doomed to fail
Guillermo Del Toronos a visual genius. From Pans Labyrinth to Pacific Rim to Silent Hills PTOh, this is art.

I’m down for the dream match of Godzilla Vs Gamera vs Ultraman vs Pacific RimSo what happens to GvK? Another underperformer?
$49 million for a franchise that opened with $93 million in 2014 is terrible. This film is a flop.
I can almost guarantee that Kong vs Godzilla will do better at the boxoffice than KoM
Well, that's how some folks in this thread seem to be describing it as.Right now, I think it really depends on how GvK goes. This is not a good number, but it's not a "burn everything and start from scratch" either. If the next one makes a healthier profit, they'll keep making them.

“DO A BARREL ROLL!”I thought Rodan looked awesome here and so did Ghidorah. Those were my favorite updated designs, even more than Godzilla.
When Rodan spins though I can just imagine the MST3K line, "Let's try spinning, that's a good trick!"
I could have done with more Mothra too...but I was glad every scene she was in was stunning.
1 RodanI am seeing a lot of love for Mothra. Sorry if this has already been done, but how would you all rank the portrayals of the Kaiju?
I specifically mentioned movies that make long awaited sequels like Avatar 2 will beUsing this type of logic, Avatar2 is doomed to fail
Well, at least they shot Godzilla vs Kong already so King of the Monsters underperforming won't stop that one. We just probably won't be getting american budget versions of Mechagodzilla or Destroyah or anything else like that. Screw it, at least I got this one. I legitimately love this movie. I just don't judge Godzilla movies the same as other movies I guess. The nuttier the better imo. I was straight geeking out at some of the beautifully corny stuff they were doing and saying!
