Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

Odd, it was pretty clear to me.
I mean I could make out a little bit, but the score during Mothra’s emergence was almost completely overpowered by the waterfall. Granted, that was the worst scene when it came to mixing, the rest of the movie was fine for the most part.

Strange, I think her theme was really clear in all her scenes. It’s partially why I think all of her scenes are fantastic, because that theme was so damned beautiful.

Watching this, the predecessor and Skull Island has given me a greater appreciation for Jackson's epic.

Sure, it's still as bloated as an avergage Floridan, but it had at least one human character you cared about. And the film was wise enough to put her in the midst of all the action.

I too had issues with the mixing, especially with Mothra’s theme. I could barely make it out in the film.

Friday Box Office: 'Avengers 4' Tops $820 Million, 'Godzilla 2' Falls 78% And 'Rocketman' Drops 59%

Not fairing so well is Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which tumbled 78% on Friday for a $4.2 million gross and a $67.257 million eight-day total. That points to a $14.85 million (-69%) second-weekend-gross and a $77.9 million ten-day total. Godzilla dropped 66% in its second weekend, but it was coming off a $93 million launch. At this juncture, a similar run will give the $170 million sequel a $106 million domestic cume. It’s recovering a bit in China (it passed $100 million and may hit $130 million by the end), but it’s not enough.

I can't see KoTM even hitting 400m worldwide at this point. There's no staying power at all.

Godzilla vs. King Kong Underway; Will Be 'Huge'

Sounds like it’s full steam ahead.. They are banking on Kong and Godzilla .

Thanks for this. I really appreciated the feedback from the Japanese;

“I live in Tokyo, and I saw the movie last Sunday. The theater was packed.

It was the only time in all my time in japan that people clapped when the credits started. I saw infinity war and endgame in this same theater too.

So I think japanese people really did like it.”

Another Japanese viewer:

“I have heard they love it. They had a few Japanese users on r/Godzilla who adored it and said it was faithful to the Toho series.”

What they will do is cut down on marketing. But yeah, they are definitely releasing it. They'd lose so much more money not releasing it. It would be insane not to release it. Also you never know, maybe the fascination of Kong and Godzilla on the big screen together might give it a nice little bump it needs to get back up to the first two films' box office.

Here’s your marketing:

KING KONG

GODZILLA

INSERT DATE HERE 2020

it doesn’t even need a trailer imo - just a teaser and leave the rest in the movie - minimal plot and spoilers - in fact I’m going on a media blackout for Kong Vs Godzilla as I know I’m going to watch it anyway day zero

You know something isn't right when you are watching a film with a three-headed alien demon and you still can't get over the scientifically inaccuracy and just plain lunacy in the movie. How isn't a billion people, or at least a few hundred million dead after all that destruction in like a dozen mayor cities in the world. How is anyone of our cast alive - especially Eleven and her dad. Was it me, or did Godzilla really stand in the open ocean that is like at least a mile deep after being juiced by that nuke. Am I crazy??? And was that Atlantis in that hollow earth water pocket - who can make a city that big eons ago, with all those statues and carvings, and why build it near a radiation source, or how did it sink there? And why am I asking all these questions when I'm watching a movie about big monsters? No idea, all I know, I can't get over it. And they did dirty Queen Mothra - I mean she dies, while that little s**t Rodan gets to live - disrespectful. Also, the Doctor gets a heroic death while his female partner gets eaten by Gidora - shameful. (Also, how did he breath in that chamber when it was full of methane and other gasses not to mention that the pressure should have crushed him to death). Every human was despicable in this movie and irritated me - but I was glad Farmiga bite it in the end - girl just committed massive humane genocide, but I was happy daddy Lannister walked away - he was the only one who wasn't stupid in this whole movie.

If some of the visuals in this weren't simply spectacular and awe-inspiring, this movie would be this year's Predator for me, and it's ain't far behind .

Yeah, I found out about that earlier. Wonder if they ever actually did that scene and if it was cut for time?

Considering the box office for this movie, probably going to have to do a little more then that.
