Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I'd love to see MechaGodzilla, but given the current realistic nature of the Monsterverse, I'm not sure they'll use him.

Though KOTM looks quite mystical, so maybe they might, who knows.

I think there's also a question of how does humanity deal with an event like this happening not once but twice given the battle Godzilla had with the two Mutos. So you could write that as a rationale. Plus, we have Monarch already as a super secret organization so who or what else can be out there, right?

It almost makes me wish the next film was Godzilla 3 with Destroyorah and Biollante as the main villains instead of a Kong fight..

I'm not sure about the tone but the film looks visually awesome!

Call me crazy but... Let's wait for KKvsG to actually be made and get a trailer from it before we completely dismiss it. Maybe?

I know Gamera isn't part of the Godzilla franchise. But they should introduce him in these movies. He's a friend to all children.

What even is the point of GvKK Now? How will it even come close to topping this? Kong is a huge downgrade from Ghidorah

Electric Gorilla.

Frankly, the fact that it is Kong and Godzilla is what makes it interesting. This is a rematch 50 years in the making. I suspect that a third party is going to show up for the final act for a team up. Who or what it will be will likely remain unknown for quite some time.

The poster is awesome, and I'm so glad Bear McCreary is doing the score. Hopefully this leads to him getting more mainstream film assignments in the future.

I hope this film lives up the hype, and delivers in the one area the first one dropped the ball on (the characters).

Cool trailer and I'll definitely be seeing this opening weekend. It is kind of surreal to me that this movie is finally happening as I believe it was Comic Con 2014 that they announced that Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra were going to be in this.

Could you expand on the tonal issue you have?
I like my monster movies foreboding and straight forward, big creature(s) come to **** us up, how do we fight back? where as this seems like it wants to give the monsters heart and a relationship with the humans, maybe touch on environmentalism, which is OK, just not my preference.

Well Mothra has always been more benevolent, and Godzilla and Rodan are often at least the lesser evils.

I get the feeling that Vera Farminga's character... isn't all there.

So apparently...

- Godzilla comes from underwater.
- Rodan comes out of a vulcano.
- Mothra is behind a waterfall.
- King Chidora is encased in ice.

Oh my god that poster :wow:.

The trailer was great too. So many great shots. All the kaiju look fantastic. Can't wait to see them fight :woot:.

Saw the trailer again, ****ing incredible. The sense of scale...the awe, it's magnificent.

Toys please.

That's the only reason why the movie is happening, because of the marketability of the fight. But the truth is, it's like going from Thanos or Galactus in Avengers 2 to Loki in Avengers 3. It's a downgrade. Shame that we aren't getting Destoroyah and Burning Godzilla to end the trilogy but instead what will essentially be a rematch. I can't see it upping ante from KOTM unless it's a Destroy All Monsters type film.

And Wingard said Godzilla vs. Kong will have a definitive winner and it will be dark - so I guess no team up?

Frankly, this movie series doesn't have the established lore to make a Destroyah remake as powerful as the first.

If the Oxygen Destroyer makes an appearance In this film as rumored then the seeds for Destoyorah will have already been planted
