Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - Part 1

I like the way they treated the first movie. There was a seriousness about the film that gave the monster scenes some weight. I don't want them straying too far toward action camp.
Yeah but it was also a gripe.

I mean, I LOVED the 2014 movie, and thought the buildup did make the monster scenes more majestic. And yeah, too much action can be another issue - but I'm sure there'll be a proper balance.

Hope they find a balance. Because no matter how cool it will look on screen just having monsters do cool stuff could end up costing the franchise. People SAY they want less human screen time but somebody has to drive the narrative.

I can't even suggest it among some family members because they thought it was boring. They're ready for this one though.

The 2014 movie wasn’t my favorite (although I was rooting for it) because it favored Hollywood starpower over Godzilla, but it seems for this movie they’ve learned their lesson. You can give us a good human story but don’t forget that your bread and butter is the monster (or monsters in this case).

I’m still waiting for an American made Godzilla film to dethrone Cloverfield, maybe this one will be it.

Why are they treating it like this? Like a promo? Are they secretly saying the score will be high?
Have they done this before with any other movie?

Quite a few times. Not all of them with bad scores.

Yeah, I stopped paying attention to Rotten Tomatoes when they started this back during the BvS days. Now I just check after a few days when it's certified and move on. Making RT some kind of event is super cringe.

Yeah it's pretty common for them now.

Rotten Tomatoes convinced me reviews do not matter. If I am interested in something, I will go see it. If I enjoy it, I'll see it again. What anyone else has to say about a film is their business, not mine.

Pretty certain is started with Justice League.

They do this with most Hollywood movies now. Sometimes it goes completely awry and the scores are completely terrible and it seems like RT is just piling on.

The carpet at the premier is outstanding.

I had watched Kong: Skull Island for the first time last month. To finish my prep for this movie, I watched the 2014 Godzilla. Once again, I think it's an underrated movie. Not perfect by any means and the military are pretty stupid in the movie, but there is a lot I liked about it as well. It held up for me.

So pumped for Thursday!!!

I am hopefully going to try and get out Saturday to see this. Very excited.

i m surprised that we still dont know what's in the Post Credit Scene

He actually looks more like an anthropomorphic komodo dragon with a smaller snout now. Which makes him look more real.

It comes out in 8 hours here in Korea, we have matinees for people to go before work (yep, usually it is also discounted before 11am, even on release day, something to ponder when looking at Korea's box office performances, matinees in the first week are always packed).

But I will probably not have time to go before a whole week... Skreeeonk!

Oh, Bear brought it!!! I'm glad to see the guy getting feature film work. He is immensely talented and a phenomenal composer. He did an amazing job here interpreting the classic Godzilla march.

We do. It leaked over a month ago!
And would you please elaborate for those who did not see the leak???

I would love to. Not sure if it was appropriate to share it here though, but I'll post it in spoiler tags.

FWIW, The whole plot leaked back in like January. It's pretty damn awesome.

ghidorah is defeated in the movie. The after credit scene is Charles Dance's character buying Ghidorah's lone severed head.
