Maybe they'll release a barebones trailer to the public while showing a trailer with more footage to Hall H.

Same with Suicide Squad. And the first Batman v Superman trailer was released a little under a year before the movie. Godzilla 2 wasn't delayed because it was running behind schedule, it moved because WB thought it would fare better in a vacant spot that they had, and it was a recent move too, so I'm sure they have a lot of finished effects shots ready for a trailer.

To me, the best "money shot" they could do this early would be to have a massive debris cloud that Godzilla's roaring at, then some lightning strikes behind it, or an explosion or something, and we se Ghidorah's three headed silhouette and how *much* taller it is than Gidzila,
