Action-Adventure Godzilla Minus One

Yeah, seems Japanese copyright is different than US in that regard.

  • Corporate Cinematographic Works copyrights last 70 years in Japan
  • Cinematographic Works published prior to 1971 follow the "Kurosawa Rule", so Lifetime of the "Author" plus 38 Years with the "Author" understood to be the Director
  • The courts in Japan have evidently been vague about cinematographic authorship, so it's possible they could expand it at some point to include the Screenwriters and Composers like in Europe
  • In the US, copyrights on every Godzilla movie were renewed for pre-1978 films so they are all expire at the end of 95 years
  • The US does not follow the "Rule of the Shorter Term", so the American and Japanese copyright expiration dates do not match.

I just hope the Japan Collector's Edition of Minus One gets a restock at some point!

Still using the incorrect $15 million figure.

Only chiming in and resurrecting this to say that I've been waiting for months for the Blu-ray Deluxe Japan Collector's Edition of Minus One to go back on sale.

It did...and you bet I dropped everything I was doing to purchase that! Even if the special features don't have subtitles, I can live with that.

Japan pumps things out fast because they work em super hard.

Yeah, Japanese crunch is brutal.

Ok, wasnt expecting a sequel but yeah this was possibly my favourite Godzilla movie of them all so I'm down for another.

Yeah, I can see it. Similar to Minus One/GxK. Minus 2 releases late in the year, followed by Supernova in 2027. Meanwhile, Shin 2 does its thing for a 2028 release.

Godzilla fans eating good.
