Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

I have a feeling this will be Son of Kong, so we may see no Toho monsters in this one

99.5% it's Adam Wingard's second Monsterverse movie, so yeah, full-on Skull Island sequel.

Anna Sawai, Joe Tippett & Kiersey Clemons Among Cast Of Apple’s Live-Action Godzilla and Titans Series – Deadline

Sawai will star as ‘Cate,’ a former schoolteacher and a G-Day survivor who travels to Japan to settle family affairs but instead uncovers a family secret. Tired of running from her problems, she is determined to find answers.

Watabe will portray ‘Kentaro,’ an intelligent, creative, and curious young man who has yet to find his own path. He will embark on a quest to learn more about his revered yet mysterious father and discover his own talents in the process. Clemons will portray ‘May,’ an American ex-pat with a roguish exterior that she uses to protect herself as well as others. Whether it be deciphering a code or finding the loophole, she is always three steps ahead of everyone around her.

Tippett will portray Tim, an office drone who dreams of secret agent adventure. His overconfidence gets him in trouble in the field, but he is determined not to fail his organization. Lasowski will portray ‘Duvall,’ an expert operative with unwavering confidence in herself and her skills. She also possesses a wry sense of humor, which she uses to guide her less field-oriented colleague.

The Monsterverse series follows the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real. It will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.

They'll probably retire Godzilla in the Monsterverse until if or when they decide to make a Destroy All Monsters-esque movie.

Does mean the show is set before the events of King of the Monsters?

Since its announcement it was always meant to take place in the gap between Godzilla 2014 and KOTM.

I’m really enjoying the peacemaker series so if it’s half as good as that I’ll be very happy!

Problem is we see these for the monsters, not the people. So watching mostly the people, don't know how that'll work out lol
Yeah, I have to wonder why they went in this direction. Granted, I'm all for going back to a tone closer to Godzilla 2014 and fully exploring the aftermath of the San Francisco battle, but given that the Titans (the ones who aren't still hibernating, that is) are presumably going to have very little screentime, they'll have to make the human characters interesting and engaging to watch (which the Monsterverse has struggled to do bar some very few examples). If they don't accomplish that, the point of the show is pretty much ruined.

I'm a bit confused. The show is produced by Apple and it's going to be connected to the WB films?

Big mistake if it's human character centered with little monsters shown.
People will want to tune in for some monster action and not see or care who's dating who,
Or hearing anger about why a certain family member was killed by the titans, etc.

I'd rather see a series based on humans building some jaegers to defend against the titans.

A live action series just does not have the budget to be focused on kaiju action.

While I doubt we will have actual news on the Legendary productions here, something to keep an eye on to see if they confirm any new deals with Legendary.
