Godzilla vs Kong (2021)

F9 most likely will be the biggest box office grosser of the summer. Black Widow might have been had it not also gone concurrently to Disney+. The question will be, how much less or how much more than Godzilla vs Kong?

The rest of the slate is up in the air as well since most are doing the theatre/streamer thing; Space Jam, Jungle Cruise, The Suicide Squad.

Old, Free Guy and Candyman are theatrical only and could surprise.

Don’t forget about Shangi-Chi, Eternals, and Spider-Man 3. As of now, they’re theatrical only.

Edit: I realize now you’re only talking about the summer box office

Watched this again on 4K, a movie that’s just a ton of fun and I really hope the rumours of more movies is true.

Give us Kong: King of Hollow Earth next followed by Godzilla: The Return of Mothra.

Just got this special limited set of 4 discs 4K Bluray Box (with Gojira & Kong's Movie Monster Series figures)

The Box consists 4 Discs of 4K Bluray, Bluray, DVD, and Bonus Bluray.
It cost ¥15.000 plus but as fan though...it is worth! :)

I mean, you can have a fun TV series, easily. [looks at Godzilla The Animated Series from the 90s]

I question how much Toho wants their big names regulated to the small screen, though. Which is fine, more focus on original Titans is great for me.

A live action Monsterverse series? I sure hope Apple can afford that budget. :o

Yeah this won’t be good. Unless they use the Cloverfield method to tell the story, I can’t imagine Apple will have the budget to make this exciting

A series is definitely an interesting route to go. Hopefully, they’ll explore lots of monsters instead of just one or two. I’m really curious about the budget though because I’m sure they wouldn’t want this to look cheap.

Yeah big fat meh from me on this news. I love a good TV show, but if ANY universe should stay on the big screen it's the Monsterverse. I doubt we get a lot of action. And last I heard more movies were planned?

Legendary is the one who actually has the Toho rights. And obviously, things have been... tense between WB and Legendary since the whole HBO Max stuff. And yes, GvK was the last of the movies in the old deal with Toho. Clearly, the success of GvK means they have made a new deal.

I don't particularly care who has the rights, I just don't see how a TV series can do justice to this particular universe.

Also if it's set between 'Zilla 14 and KOTM, wasn't it stated in the latter Godzilla hadn't been seen since the events of the 2014 movie?
