That's what a friend of mine told me after we saw TIH. He said, "Couldn't they do something like that, with Superman fighting Doomsday?". I was thinking that too, during the fight scene. We need a big fight scene in the sequel/reboor/whatever.

It doesn't take Doomsday for a good Superman fight. I mean the animated cartoon had great fights. An on screen Metallo vs Superman fight could be just as good as Hulk vs Abomination if not better.

I agree. It doesnt have to be Doomsday. Brainiac is just as strong as Superman, and Metallo is pretty darn strong as well.
Either of them fighting Supes would make for a heckuva fight to see.

My biggest fear is that he won't be able to.

I think he might be. We'll see. If there even is a sequel. As for the box office. It'll help. If people see Superman getting punched through buildings and him doing the same to a villain in the trailer, people will see it. Of course the fight would have to be good too. If, like you said, Singer doesnt pull it off, it'll probably attract people, but it won't be good in the long run. I think it would be difficult to have Superman fighting someone like Brainiac and screw it up.

A fight won't be enough for some of the fans though. They want more changes. Although I still think even SR haters will see it....at least some will.

Anyway, I'd like to see the movie start with Superman doing his everyday job, saving people from various disasters, then have him fight a smaller villain like Metallo, then have him save the city from something Brainiac's doing or whatever and then have a big fight with Brainiac in the end.

Thats what i've always wanted as well.
I'd love for the sequel to open with Superman already in the middle of a fight with either metallo or Parasite.
Make it last for about 5 mins or so.
The kicker would be that the villain has no connection to Lex or the main villain to come. ( Brainiac)

Yeah, opening the movie with a smaller fight would be awesome. The main/end fight though, would have to be longer and even better, of course, if the movie starts with a fight.

Oh for sure. I wouldnt show too much in the opening fight. Maybe a few cars thrown, and a building or two damaged.
The big fight with the money shots would need to come much later on.

I think SR have reached to such an extent it doesn't even matter what singer does anymore, it can't be screwed more than it already is.

You may be right as it seems like a 50/50 split surrounding S.R., at least among the fans it does.
Maybe the best thing for the franchise would be for a new director to come on board, who knows though.

While I wouldn't want to wait 10 yrs, I could stand 4 or 5 yrs if they'd make a few other hero films first.
Out of all the possible C.B. films they could make, I think a G.L. film would have the most promise, followed by the Flash, then W.W. IMHO of course

... THERE IS NO 'NEXT' SUPERMAN. He is the last... that is one of the central elements of his character, and one of the central problems involved with Jason's existance. Moreover, the Superman persona is not a mantel that is passed on to a next generation. Superman is who Clark/Kal'el is. It's not so much a secret identity, but rather who he really is. And more, if you kill the 'actual' superman, and have Jason take over, it's not really superman anymore, and will just turn into a lame excuse for changing all the characters, but keeping the same dynamic, to 'hip up' an already brilliant property: LAME LAME LAME

one of my favorite Superman fight scenes was in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon when him and Cptn Marvel fought.


Anyways, the whole Jason taking over thing is a very bad idea.
The idea of Jason being kidnapped and utilized against superman in some way might be able to undo the fact that Jason was every created in the first place, perhaps they could kidnap him and use him as a means to "clone" superman, both birthing Bizarro, and killing Jason in the process??
Either that or he is going to become Superboy. Both kind of lame options, for a character that shouldn't be there to begin with.

Doomsday is the best villian for Superman to fight live action. His creation and evolution is wide open, and he can go toe-to-toe with Supes.

Wouldn't it look a bit too much like Hulk vs. Abomination though? Now that I think about it, the movie version of Abomination looks a HELLUVA lot like Doomsday, IMO.
