I finally sat down and watched this 4 hour sucker from begining to end...it's excellent.

I can't believe I still haven't seen it. I'm not sure if I can sit through it all in one sitting, but I definitely want to see it.

A classic. Stereotyped and a little nieve and very historically inaccurate? Yes. A classic. Yep. One of the best movies ever made and I think every person who ever saw it just grinned hwen Butler said "I don't give a damn" which was our way of saying "**** you you manipulative *****."

What a great movie!

"Cause tomorrow is another day"!!

Shut up you annoying ****e Scarlett. He's gone!

:D It is still so satisfying to see him just shoot her down, really.

Great movie. Wonderful, marvelous , classic, timeless. Gone with the wind its the cinema itself. One of the best movies ever made.

Gone with the Wind
Directed by Victor Fleming
Rating: 8/10

This movie is perhaps one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen, some of the visuals are just beautiful, and the two most striking visuals would be. The end of act 2, right before the intermission, the famous line is said "God as my witness I'll never starve again", the silhouette of her set against the setting sun and then the scene of all the dead/injured men of the confederacy with the confederate flag in the foreground is a great shot. The grandeur of the movie is simply stunning from the elaborate costumes to the multitudes of sets and landscapes. So let me say that the biggest strength of the movie is its beauty of the “glorious south”.

The movie tells the tale of the death of the south due to the civil war, it tells it through the eyes of naïve daughter of the south, the belle of the ball, and a girl who’s got frivolous ideas of love and romance, and how all that is set asunder by the war. One of the things I like about the movie is its very contained cast of characters; mostly everyone in the movie is introduced within the first thirty minutes, and there arcs are followed throughout the rest of the movie. The leading lady does a damn fine job, and her character is very compelling, her story of torment and anguish is compelling partly because as you see her fall, you’re saying to yourself it’s her own damn fault, hence making the last line of the movie very impact. As for the four hour run-time it’s an entertaining movie that manages to hold one’s attention for the entire four hour run, and the entire four hours is used very wisely since it shows in detail the fall from grace of a once belle of the south.

Is this on my favorite list of movies now? No. Was I disappointed considering all the hype and ranking it gets? No. Any movie that successfully holds your interest for four hours, and doesn’t waste any time or feel like it could be shorter, is a damn good movie in my book. It’s a great story with beautiful visuals, the reason I’d rank it at only an eight is for two reasons. Some parts are far too “Hollywood” and hokey for my tastes and two for such a long movie with complex characters, it doesn’t have the depth I feel it should, I wish it had packed a little more into it. Other than that it’s a solid flick

Also, Vivien Leigh is one of the most beautiful and talented actress of all time. She was wonderful. And Scarlett O'Hara is one of best female characters ever.

And Clark Gable is the original Badass. ¿ did you know that Clark Kent was named in this way because Clark Gable?

I love Mamie.

"I don't know nothing bout birthing no babies".

I've seen it beginning to end once. (Other times I've seen parts of it, or even all but the very end. Ugh.) It's not the kind of movie I'll be watching for fun, but it's a stunning film.

...And I felt bad for Scarlett.

This is a great film, made mostly so by THE female performance of all time. The whole country went crazy over, first the book, then the search for Scarlett. Rhett Butler was already a foregone conclusion as the public was unanimous in demanding Gable play the role. But who was going to play Scarlett O'Hara? Every actress in Hollywood coveted the part and lobbied heavily for it. A nationwide talent search was conducted. In the end this most beautiful of women, the talented and ultimately tragic Vivien Leigh from England, no less, beat out Bettie Davis, Kate Hepburn and the rest. It's one of those rare instances where one can honestly say no other actress could have done the part justice. Vivien took a ***** and made her irresisitible. In her prime she the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

Man, I can't watch that s***, I've tried.
I...sort of liked the garish colors.*shrug*

Ah Vivan Leigh does give one of the best performances of all time (it is hard to believe she hated the second director so much and was hurrying through so she could see her then-husband Larry Oliver who was on Broadway at the time). In fact this movie had SO many problems and Selsnic kept changing the script until it was in the editing room and switching directors (there were 3 in total, two working at the same time) and screenplays and the cast was furious. Yet, when it is finished it is a classic.

Kinda' like Jaws, everyone hated making it and they still are bitter about the whole thing as they reminece but for fans of films these are classics. And Scarlett is so tragic because she is so unlikeable and yet so sympathetic all at once. And Mammy is a wonderful character as is Rhett, who is one of my all time screen heroes the way he just shuts Scarlett down at the end, it still brings a bittersweet grin to my face.

And I know this is all opionated but if all you can say "boring overrated ****" than you have not seen the movie and probably do not appreciate classic cinema then.
