Where are all these negative reviews coming from?

It's like RT was sitting on all the bad ones till Thursday.

Think Corliss overall liked, his review sounds positive to me.

Whole mess of reviews coming in, currently sitting at 88%. 84/95 positive.

It is how you deliver the plot that the originality, freshness and energy come from.

If that is not the case, it is all literally "the same".

Sites get far more hits on reviews that publish the day before or the day a film is released, unless it's the first to come on line - so that's when they upload reviews and put in their review for RT (RT does not collect them). This is especially true of those tied to newspapers and magazine because that's when they print their reviews.

Roller. Coaster. Like, literally.

I'm reveling in the small victories, like Dana Stevens and Manohla Dargis enjoying the heck out of this.

I guess it just aint for everyone :D, but I can already tell it is for me :D another winner for MS!

Back down to 88%. Sigh. I was happy with my 90% guess, but the word of mouth I'm hearing sounds more like a high 80s movie than a low 90s movie. Tomorrow is likely to be another tough review day before it starts trailing back up. I'm now guessing it ends tomorrow at 86%, then gradually drifts up to 88% or 89% after another week or so and finishes just short of 90%.

At the moment that feels like a slight disappointment, but in an absolute sense its a huge win.

Decided to seeing it tonight ahead of friends on Sunday. Regular 2D at 7:30. Anyone seeing it at Cinemark in Broward?

Marvel has really, really spoiled us but good, LOL, if we're all deflated over a high 80's RT percentage.

TWS was around 92% at this point and eventually stopped at 89%, so now I am sure this is gonna end up in the 80's like I predicted earlier.

I'm still happy with the high 80s RT percentage because I really did not expect GoTG to score that high, I voted 76%-79% in the poll and at most I expected it to end up at 85% so it being at 88% or 89% is still great.:woot:

also...Dargis liked this movie?? what the doink, this really is a miracle XDD Still side-eying her for that "super-rump" comment though :whatever:

Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle just gave it a negative.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if most critics end up being untrustworthy at the end of the day. I don't mean that as a serious knock on them, but what seems to be often desired of them is to be impartial judges or umpires who looks at films without any other extraneous influences attached to the viewing(personal biases, particular tastes, etc.) and give it an appraisal to the positive or negative and degree to which it earns that grade and the reasons why he/she thinks that way. Frankly no critic will meet those requirements. They aren't umpires, they're color commentators.

And we all know color commentators can say some stupid stuff in their analyses.

There again is the absolutely irrational response to RT scores for which fans are notorious. Just invert the score and you have the true picture: only 12% of critics have given GOTG bad reviews thus far, while a whopping 88% liked or loved it. Having the approval of over 80% of such an entitled group of poseurs is something extraordinary, Rather than a cause for despair.

I think I'm just gonna wait to catch it on cable myself. I doesn't look bad but , I'm just not that motivated to see it in the theater . Then again, I didn't see Thor Dark World and the last few films i've gone to the theater to see are few and far between lately. I only saw CATWS,ASM2, XMDOFP, and DOTPOTA and have skipped everything else. The reviews for the film aren''t so much a factor for me ,as my interest level.

That's a matter of personal taste and critical opinion - not untrustworthiness. Find the reviewer or reviewers who usually best match your personal taste if you want reviews that are the most helpful to you in choosing a movie.

RT is nothing more than a critical consensus of about 100-250 reviewers. As a consensus it is rarely if ever 100% at either end of the spectrum. There's always at least one person who hated or was indifferent to a loved film and vice verse. Even Boyhood which has most reviewers in raptures with an avg rating in the mid 9s has two negative reviews.

Then there are those reviewers regardless if one's tastes tend to align who I find are worth reading because of their knowledge of cinema and/or their critical analysis and writing skills.
