Did anyone else see on IGN that the game cover is supposed to come out this month?

I didn't But that's cool,Can't wait to see it although I'm guessing it'll be like the Gameinformer cover But with some tweaks

It's probably going to be the same style as all the other GTA covers. The boxes with random action shots in them.

The month is almost almost, so we should be seeing something soon. I'm guessing on Wednesday perhaps.

It kind of blows my mind that they released the first trailer back in 2011.

That's cool. The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of being able to switch between characters willy nilly. Rockstar had made it pretty clear that it was unscripted, I thought? The article above seems to suggested otherwise.

I wonder how it will work in terms of getting yourself out of trouble. For example, let's say you're playing as Trevor and everything's gone to hell, your health is all but gone and you're absolutely going to die -what happens if you switch to say, Franklin at that moment? Will Trevor's A.I make sure to take care of himself, or does he die?

Seems to me I've played some switch-on-the-fly games before, and IIRC, the norm is that you can switch over from a dying dude to a not-dying dude; but most mission parameters require all the characters to survive anyway, so if he dies, you all die. I could imagine something like this being in play in GTA5.

Grand Theft Auto V Release Date - September 17, 2013

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/gamenews.php?id=99647

Rockstar Games announced today that Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17, 2013. The game is described as follows:

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.

"'Grand Theft Auto V' continues to push the series forward in new ways; Rockstar North are creating our deepest, most beautiful and most immersive world yet,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "We are very excited for people to learn more about the game in the coming months.”

The September release date moves the launch back from its original projected release window of spring 2013 in order to allow additional development time. The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.

All the classic hallmarks of the groundbreaking series return, including incredible attention to detail and Grand Theft Auto's darkly humorous take on modern culture, alongside a brand new and ambitious approach to open world multiplayer.

If it came out in May, you'd probably be able to get it for $30 by September. Now it'll just be the $60 price tag when it launches that month

oh well

at least by September i'll be done with grad school so more free time

and besides, i'll have a few new games to tide me over: Aliens:Colonial Marines, Last of Us, Injustice, Metal Gear Rising, etc.

Delay expected but not quite that late. It's getting close to the expected next-gen release time.

Well, this game is going to close out the longest video game generation and I'm fine with that.
