Is it really a fanboy war when one side doesn't care?

Haha thats what makes it a fanboy war.

I know one person who used to post on this site's forums long ago who loathed consoles But I didn't know there are many are others like him out there,I know computers are more powerful But they act as IF the Xbox&PS3 are worse than a Wii!!

Haha, people like him are fairly common actually, especially within that crowd.

Did GTA IV have a collector's/special edition?I can't remember,I wonder IF they'll do one for this game and IF so then what extra stuff.

I rarely get them But I'd consider getting one for this game!

I don't think he doesn't like them, I think it's more of not wanting to be heavily influenced by them, knowingly and unknowingly. It's more of a choice for himself to distance the current gen GTA games from the previous gen where they wear its influences on its sleeves, also since there's tons of people working over at R* and Dan can't control everything surely those that have seen BB and all other shows can implement references in some capacity so no worries.
That's exactly what it is. Obviously there are plenty of nods to movies and shows in GTA IV, whether it be the name of a mission or a clothing style or whatever, but its better to add those nods in afterward as opposed to trying to create a mission based on one particular reference.

Here you can read all of the nods and references to the infamous Three Leaf Clover mission, and it shows that they pulled a lot from different movies, but didn't directly base the mission off of one in particular.

Too bad they can't have like an 80's radio station or a Vice City station.

They had one in Liberty City; I think it's safe to say that Los Santos will have a nearly identical 80s station, too. Especially as long as Rockstar still has the licensing rights to any songs they used in previous games.

Trailer looks great. Honestly though, I'm not too excited about Trevor or Franklin. Trevor seems like he'd be fun for a little while until the novelty of playing as a crazy redneck wears off. Conversely, Franklin seems like a somehow whinier version of CJ and Niko combined. Michael on the other hand is exactly what a GTA protagonist should be. The story of a retired bank robber who is dealing with a dysfunctional family life, getting sucked back into the game seems like it could be a lot of fun. Something tells me I'll be spending most of my time with him.

You know I'm surprised none of the GTA soundtracks have yet to have Bad Boys by Inner Circle. That fits a game like GTA perfectly.

I know Rockstar said the "PS2" era GTA's are a different Universe...but if Michael is in the witness protection program it would be a GREAT twist if he turned out to be Tommy. He sure as hell reminds me of him.

I don't expect it, but that would be rather awesome, haha.

Didn't the G.I. article say we can expect cameos from past GTA games? Being as Love Fist is heavily implemented into the marketing, that implies to me that this game is set in the GTA III-verse.

Yeah, I'm happy about multiple protagonist, but Trevor doesn't really do anything for me. But his character kinda of reminds me of what GTA protagonists were in the past with their crazy attitudes and actions. Franklin is like the modern day CJ, but also like a mix with the new age GTA protagonist, that is more serious and not just about gangs or money. In that sense, he is a little more like Niko. But Michael, who I believe will be the main protagonists, is sort of like the link to the past. He was friends with Trevor, and it sounds like he would have fit into a GTA game of the past, but then he got out and is now looking for bigger things, so in a sense he represents the new age of GTA as well.

But his story is the most intriguing because it's like what would a character of the past be like today, where the issues are not just money, power, and respect from other rival gangs and mobs, but also from your own family.

They've labeled the GTA III-era as the SD era, and GTA IV as the HD era, so they said it's more likely you'll see someone from IV or the DLC.

And I don't know about the Love Fist thing, but I know there were a lot of brands that weren't in GTA IV that are returning now because of certain things about Liberty City. Like the gun laws were different so Ammu-Nation couldn't be there, but it will be in GTA V, so it might be something like that.

Is it just me or does that burning house look like MacFarlane Ranch from RDR?

The rumors going around are that it definitely *is* Bonnie MacFarlane's Ranch. Still waiting for confirmation, though. ;) It'd be a nice crossover cameo to the fans.....maybe even some nods to LA Noire in there, too?

I remember whenever LA Noire first came out, there was some speculation as to whether they would go back to San Andreas and use that LA as the base for a new map. I don't know if they recycled anything, but its worth noting that in the first shot of the trailer, you can see the observatory that was in LA Noire. I don't know if that would count as a nod or just another realistic landmark being used.

My guess is no, unless they've done hilarious amounts of additions and remodeling over the last century

I think the appeal of Trevor is that he's every spontaneous rampage, hooker beating, pushing people downstairs and generally terrorizing everyday citizens all rolled into one angry package. I've always preferred to play in-character, so when it comes to doing anything outlandish as say, Niko or Luis, it never really fit. Character's like Tommy Vercetti or Johnny Klebitz I think it worked better for, but still not completely. With Trevor, from a role playing perspective anyway, it feels like you could throw your violent toys around for no other reason than he's having one of those days.

Micheal definitely has the most compelling story so far and seems to be the lead, probably the deepest of the three characters as well. I feel like while his story will be the most interesting, Trevor will be the most fun to goof around with. Franklin is kind of a mystery right now...? :D

EDIT: That could easily be the McFarlane's home after 100 years of renovations, but I never got the feeling RDR was set in California. More Texas, Arizona or Montana?

The guys on IGN's podcast or whatever were talking about that house looking like Bonnie's ranch from RDR. I can see it..I mean, it's not going to look 100% the same as it did 100 years ago...But...Who knows?

RDR was a fictitious all-inclusive version of The West. Its towns and landscapes suggested everything from The Great Plains, to the Rockies, to Texas, to Louisiana, to the Desert Southwest, to the Pacific Northwest, to Mexico. I suppose, in theory, San Andreas could've been part of that map; but clearly there was no Pacific Ocean in RDR.

From WT's comparison pics, I'd say the resemblances are purely coincidental.

It would be pretty funny. John Marston fights to keep it standing then Trevor bumbles along a century later and burns it down.

There are houses that still look as they did over 100 years ago..But obviously just old looking&beaten down

Chances are it's just a generic farm house, which is what the McFarlane ranch was.

Even if it's not the same house, I hope there's some RDR references in this game. & vice versa with some GTAV references in the next Red Dead game.

Every time I watch the trailer and hear "Skeletons" I can't help but feel like they are trying to make sure people know that this game is going in a similar, yet different path that GTA IV was on. It almost looks and sounds like they want to reassure that this game will not just be entertaining, but also fun.

I get that vibe too and that's how it should be,GTA IV had humor But a gritty vibe..Which is cool and this one has a colorful vibe&humor But is FUN with action packed stuff to make it fresh!

Some of the trailer reminds me of 80&90's Hollywood action comedies such as the Lethal Weapon&Beverly Hills Cop movies,Especially the car chases&stuff on the freeway with Micheal's son

I'm hoping for mixed stations like 80's, 90's, Rap and Rock. It's always nice to cruise to something you can listen too. That's what made Vice City so appealing.
