I have Prime, and it says its guaranteed on release day, which of course, I've never gotten it. I haven't bought a new game from Amazon in about 2-3 years since. I just get it at a store, now.

That's really odd. You don't live out in the middle of nowhere do ya? As iv said, iv never had that issue nor have I heard anyone else having that problem frequently.

Heh, no, I live in the city. But anyways, no big deal. I just don't use it anymore.

Anyways, I will be ordering this from the MS store for the free 1600msp, but I don't think that'll come in on day1. I'm just hoping I get it by the weekend, and I'll be good.

Damn, really?! That's crazy! I have Prime and I get all my stuff day one. And I live in the middle of no where. That's weird.

Yeah, I have Prime as well, and everything I've ordered for Release Date delivery came on the correct day. Hopefully you didn't jinx me heh.
LOL, I think there was only one case where I got the game late, and even then it was there the next day. But other than that, I don't think I've ever had an issue.

Heck, even when I would get new games from Gamefly, they would ship the day before the game was released and arrive a couple of days later.

It's happened the past 3 games I've ordered from them, so I just stopped when i want a game on day 1.
Who does it usually ship from? Normally I would get it from UPS and I ordered so much from Amazon that the delivery guy already knew me and he wouldn't come until the end of the day.

If you have Prime and it doesn't come within two days of the order, just yell at an Amazon customer service rep in chat and they will usually give you like, 30 dollars in credit. My Prime has paid for itself based on a one day inconvenience. :hehe:

I don't think I could ever trust an online service enough to deliver the game on the first day. Not for a game I want on day-one, and certainly not for a game I'm as hyped about at GTA V. Pre-order at a store and go pick it up, that's the only way to do it for me.

Do people still play gta 4 online or is it pretty much dead?

the last time major nelson posted a live activity ranking it was number 5

I've never played online but I'm going tonite. Wanna get ready for 5. Didn't start playing anything online till last year so I'm new to it.

Red Dead's online is probably closer to what we'll see than GTA4

People still play it, but it's not regulated anymore so the whole thing is a mess. I played a couple of months back and it's basically ruled by people using mods, invincible players who can light you on fire from the other side of the map -among other things.

Yea I kinda feel the same but iv never had an issue with amazon and it's cheaper for me to use them than any other retailer. With next gen looming I need all the savings I can get.

Yeah, I wish there was a way to pick a room that's legit or go into something you know is modded. Sometimes you find some cool stuff in the modded rooms (crazy ramps and such) but it's not as fun when you can't kill other people.

I got GTAIV when it came out on 360 but just got the complete edition on PS3 a couple of months ago and I don't think I will ever be able to get those online trophies. There is so little playing the game :(

NOOOOOOOO!

Starting to see TV spots for this game. Gah I hope this next week goes by fast. We're soooo close. What's the first thing everyone is gonna check out when they get the game? As soon as I'm free to explore in gonna find a boat and do some scuba diving.

9 days left, the anticipation is killing me!

I think they aired the most recent trailer for it after last week's Breaking Bad too.

Not sure exactly what I want to do first. My tradition with open-world games is to do the introductory missions/quests and then aimlessly wander and see where the world takes me.

Yea after I check out the scuba I'm just gonna cruise around and check out the city.

Finally! After about two in a half months, I finally got my copy of GTA IV back. But I can't even play it too much tonight because I go back to work tomorrow

But on a different note, I'm very curious to see who reviews this for IGN. I've been watching some of their coverage from the past week, and I couldn't help but notice that their UK guys are the ones who are doing all the hands on stuff. It makes me wonder just how different the experience will be for a non-American since one of the things about the GTA games has always been on the subtle social-commentary about American culture.

Yea that's a big part of GTA but at the same time, what makes GTA so great is just all the detail and random stuff that goes into the game and that's something that's universal.

It'll be an Americana who reviews the IGN game on the US site, and it'll probably be the same guys doing the coverage now for the UK site to review it for IGN-UK, and then they'll have someone different for their Aussie site, as well.

Sometimes, they just use different sections from different regions for sneak peeks, unboxings, early coverage, etc. But when it comes to the reviews, they normally stick to their respective regions.

I don't think there's anything even a little bit subtle about Rockstar's satirical version of America :oldrazz:

That said, as a non-American it's difficult to tell you how the experience differs because obviously I don't know what it's like playing as an American. My only immediate thought is that when you see a biting piece of satire as a non-American it's funny in a "They totally do that!" kind of way, where as I imagine a born and bred American would find it funny in a more self-depreciating manner "We totally do that!". It's an interesting question to be sure, maybe some other non-Americans can offer better insight.
