I think the humor comes from the sheer old fashioned cheesiness of it. Like Masters of The Universe. I'm not sure of the word I'm looking for but it's a pretty overconfident statement with a title like that. Kind of like naming your movie "The King Of Everything". I see a lot of people saying "We're gonna go see Guardians this weekend" with a straight face but not so much "We're going to see Guardians of The Galaxy this weekend". Just uttering the latter sentence immediately makes you sound like a geek or a dork. Something that I take pride in but others may not. I honestly look forward to the cheese.
Just curious, I was talking with a friend of mine about this, and he was laughing at it because he thinks the title is really stupid.
What are your thoughts on this? A title might not seem like a big deal, but given that movies like Cowboys & Aliens and Abraham Lincoln: Vampite Hunter had titles that were widely mocked (and both turned in poor box office results) do you think that GotG could suffer the same fate?
MAYBE, Howard didn't do that well and if I recall right there HAVE been Rocket Racoon figures back in the 80's or 90's that stayed on shelves.Rocket Raccoon is going to sell A LOT of toys.
Well, his appearance in GotG may boost those sales this day and age.MAYBE, Howard didn't do that well and if I recall right there HAVE been Rocket Racoon figures back in the 80's or 90's that stayed on shelves.
Maybe Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E. would be an option.I just can't wait to see how DC attempts to counter this. Their answer to Iron Man was Green Lantern after all.t: I can't image what character or even a group they'd drag up to compete with the surprise hit that will be a talking Raccoon.

I'm getting a laugh out of that as well and I'm a DC fan.Marvel has to be doing this to troll DC. Rocket effin' Raccoon is getting a movie before Wonder Woman and the Flash, LMFAO.
GL Sequel.

It's not that stranger, Howard the f****ng duck was made before Spider-man, X-Men, Avengers, Green Lantern, and Fantastic FourMarvel has to be doing this to troll DC. Rocket effin' Raccoon is getting a movie before Wonder Woman and the Flash, LMFAO.
the weird thing is i think out of all these guys Rocket is by far the most recognisable at the moment. he was pretty awesome on that episode of EMH but its the fact that he was in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 that really helps him out. a ton of people played that game and the response to Rocket was pretty strong in a good way. alot of people became fans of his because of that game. be interesting to see if it carrys over to the filmMAYBE, Howard didn't do that well and if I recall right there HAVE been Rocket Racoon figures back in the 80's or 90's that stayed on shelves.

Rocket Raccoon is a freaking bad ***. I cannot wait to see this on screen. I hope they do not hold out for the CGI for this character.
Is he totally absurd? Yes
Is he totally unbelievable? Yes
Would he kick Sam Jackson's ass? In a New York minute!

Challengers of the Unknown.
Why would the name Captain America get knocked...I'm surprised Captain America wasn't openly mocked as a name and title. I think when people see that it's a marvel movie, they will just jump on board.

1.) That's because Howard's movie was (sadly) assMAYBE, Howard didn't do that well and if I recall right there HAVE been Rocket Racoon figures back in the 80's or 90's that stayed on shelves.

From what I understand, Disney doesn't really have any input on what Marvel Studios does. That may change if Marvel makes a series of screwups, but as of right now, the Disney higherups don't exercise any sort of oversight over Marvel on what projects are greenlighted or what's done with them.
hmmmm. theres not really a powerhouse on this team. mostly brawlers and blasters. im still expecting an assist from Nova, Adam Warlock, or Quasar. well a version of Quasar. guess theres a few to pick from. lol.
