The Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy (2014): Will tie-in with The Avengers

So you ask people for examples of successful space operas, and then when people give you right answers, you start changing the parameters of your question to "prove" them wrong....? You sure do enjoy punching that straw man around, don't you.....? :whatever:

Okay, keeping the parameters consistent, has there been a space drama as successful as Star Wars? Use any criteria you want

Of course not. But that's not what you were asking originally, was it? You were asking if there were other successful space operas, *not* "as successful as" Star Wars, since there's pretty much no franchise in ANY genre that's as successful as Star Wars.

And again: Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Starship Troopers, Stargate SG-1, Serenity/Firefly, Farscape, Macross/Robotech, Gundam, Doctor Who, Torchwood, not to mention roughly half of all video games ever created (notable examples of hugely popular space opera sci-fi games that GOTG might emulate include Mass Effect, Halo, Gears of War, Starcraft, etc.)

Did you read the posts? like 3 or 4 other sources have confirmed this. Its beyond LR. Its basically confirmed.

Has SHH confirmed it? Has Comingsoon.net? Has Deadline.com? Once again I already pointed out how the trades like HR and Variety have reported on or picked up erroneous or outright false stories before. Like the Brotherhood says, "Believe nothing that you see."

Well, we will find out in 2 weeks I suppose

If Deadline.com, SHH, or Comingsoon.net haven't confirmed it yet I don't give it much stock.

I don't see Marvel changing their two-movie-a-year policy anytime soon, so we'll probably just get these two in 2014.
Feige has already said Ant-Man could cause them to make an exception to that policy.

Hopefully Black Panther will at least get a cameo in Cap 2 or something. Kinda bummed he isnt getting his own movie.

The Playlist podcast that broke a lot of spoiler rumors on MCU's Phase II movies recently indicated that BP would show up
in a Hulk sequel, apparently in an adversarial role to the gamma giant; but that one sounds pretty iffy to me. Even the guy on the podcast wasn't sure about it.

Adam Warlock is pretty important in the Thanos storyline, so I do hope he will be introduced. And Mar-Vell can set up Ms. Marvel, and leads to her joining the Avengers maybe in TA3 or 4 (depending on if they can fit her in the trilogy or not), so yeah I want to see both characters showing up somehow.
I'm curious how they'd work Warlock in since he started out as Him in FF. lol

quick question- will we get a third MS film in 2014 or will it just be CA2 and GotG?
I work for a Security company that guards Rough cut and Prescreening for Walmart, and Disney among other events and sites. ONE guy with the Studios showing a Rough cut of Avengers a month before opening said the Avengers FINALE for the current story will be around 2017, that includes ALL the franchises.

Is that saying that
We may indeed have a Hulk sequel in 2014?

Box Office Mojo is reporting that the second Marvel movie in 2014 is being moved back to August from it's initial May release. Everything is still looking like it's GOTG.

So ASM 2 gets May all to himself? :)
Bring on Mysterio :spidey:

X-Men: Days of Future Past is slotted for mid July.

You could go mid June if you are Marvel. That would be the best. Ala Green Lantern but hopefully not as terrible. WB will not be a factor in 2014.

Also talk of CA2 being moved back a month, which would be about right since Marvel seems to like releasing things in May.

No, but Dreamworks and Transformers will. You drop a debut Marvel film into June and slot it against Train Yer Dragon 2 and Optimus Prime's latest throwdown, you'll get massy-creed.

August 1 is a smart play. Late summer, before school, and all the big blockbusters have had their moment in the sun.

I agree. Whether that second movie will be GOTG or BP, it will be a new franchise with very little name recognition outside of comic book readers, so releasing it in August when studios usually dump their art films or indie flicks is a good idea. And as we have seen from Hunger Games' success in March, any movie can do well throughout the year if it is great and has rapports from the audience.

Actually August has seen a lot of big releases in years past. Just remember, Tropic Thunder was #1 for several weekends in August of 2008. The Expendables came out in August of 2010. Expendables 2 comes out in August this year. Rush Hour was an August release. The Bourne Ultimatum was an August release.

August is a good period for a late summer release. I mean this year alone it's going to have the new Total Recall, Bourne Legacy, and Expendables 2.

They're gonna need to get some top notch creative minds and A-list acting talent behind this, or no one will care. I mean, Christ, I actually read comics and I could barely give a **** about the Guardians of the Galaxy. What will the mainstream audiences think?

Bottom line: I don't want this movie to happen :o

I've never cared about the GOTG and I'm not excited for this film in the least, but I'm a fan of the MCU so hopefully it succeeds.
