Please, point out what he could have done differently/better.

About his acting? Pretty much what Darthphere said-- he could've tried. But that's just the thing, he doesn't have to in a movie like that. And you can be a tough guy without the hammy OTT wrestling persona, and I'm sure Bautista can too, since they cast him.

Do you guys have clips, similar to the one from Man With the Iron Fists, but with better acting?

The thing is, I doubt Marvel's going to allow him to muck their film up with horrible acting. Feige for one makes sure every film is a quality one. If they feel like his acting isn't good I'm sure they'll do something about it

If Andre the Giant can pull off Fezzik in The Princess Bride, then Batista can pull off Drax.

It ain't Shakespeare.

For people looking for more on David Bautista acting.

From the Chuck television series back in 2010.

from a clip from the Scorpion King 3

and from a clip from The House of the Rising Sun

I hope this helps.

Also, I would have included the trailer for The House of the Rising Sun as well, but since it had nudity in it and some graphic violence, I thought better of it so as to avoid getting kicked off the boards. However, feel free to search You Tube for it as it is not to difficult to find.

As for my opinion on his acting ability. While his acting skills may not be amazing, I think he will do fine in the roll of Drax.

All I can really get from the clips that Batista is a pro-wrestler turned B-movie actor.

Maybe he will be able to fulfill what is needed for the role, but we'll see. Marvel rarely lets us down with their casting choices, so I'm willing to give them benefit of the doubt here. Since Guardians was rebooted as a comic and they revitalized the Drax character, he's basically been Kratos/Riddick-lite. So maybe Batista is suitable in that respect, a big dude that looks like he can rip aliens apart. A better example might be if this is a similar role to Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, then with that I think Batista can work out fine. If you remember in X-Men, Sabretooth didn't have to do a lot. He looked and sounded mean, only had a handful of lines, and was there to give Wolverine a big challenge to fight. Most of the "acting" was left to the likes of McKellan and Stewart.

At the same time, I'm going to have a hard time enduring all the exclamations how awesome an actor Bautista is and that he blew everyone away from the other crew members. Look I'm not saying that's impossible, but don't expect me to believe he's this master Thespian all of the sudden and there was no one else they could find.

just heard about Drax casting.
although i am not that pumped, I am interested about their pick of bautista.

i actually liked Chris Pratt being cast as star lord...
but don't know about drax

I actually do see potential based in this clip. He's not to overt and has some subtleties to his performance that could be further developed with more roles.

What was it?

The point was that Andre the Giant was a wrestler, not an actor. That he played the part of a big "dumb brute" who was actually funny, endearing and charming, and Andre nailed it.

And the point was that there is a very high likelihood that Drax's character will be portrayed in a similar fashion --- a big "dumb brute" who is actually funny, endearing and charming. And Batista will nail it.

Bautista needs to work on not squinting so much when he talks. Everytime he said something he face got scrunched up. Maybe that's natural for him but it will take away from his performance.

That doesn't sound much like Drax at all lol.

Comparing Andre the Giant's role in Princess Bride to Drax in Guardians is a terrible argument. I mean, really?

Andre the Giant (RIP) was great in The Princess Bride but he neither looked nor acted like Fezzik from the book. Except for the height he wasn't even close. Arnold Schwarzenegger would have been the better candidate to play the part. But would Arnold have given the same beloved and iconic performance? Doubtful.

Sounds rather similar to Bautista and Drax, if you ask me.

Are you saying Bautista is going to give a beloved and iconic performance?

I'm saying that it is very likely Bautista will play a rendition of the character that is far separated from the comics version but more well liked and accessible for mass audiences

You know his performance will be held in higher regard than Ledger's Joker. Don't pretend otherwise. :o

That's a hell of a prediction. A lot more than the "He'll do alright" statements I've seen so far.

Oh without a doubt.

That, I can believe. I'm not wild about it, but I believe it's likely.
