With folks f'ing with the timeline, Kang will get pissy and show up. I think I would rather see him show up in a later film when more things have happened.

I think I'd like to see villains like this if it ends up as a trilogy:

Magus > Kang > Korvac

With Thanos hangin around as well.

I mentioned kang earlier as a possible mention or setup. When the gotg was confirmed as having a team from am alternate future. The future gotg could always mention him while talking about their future where something went wrong. Now they hope to help prevent it from happening to this universe. We would assume they were talking about thanos but it would be kang they meant. Just a thought.

Other villains that could be in a guardians movie (one you guys might not have thought of as well):

The Badoon (i would think they would be in the 1st movie)

The Stark (the alien race from the future). I know the Stark is not that well known (they havent appeared since the 90s) but they actually have the most potential. For those not familliar they are an alien race who's god is basically Iron Man/Tony Stark and of course their technology is based on Tony Stark's technology.

Beyond that the guardians (either the future version of the present day version) don't have much other than what you guys already mentioned

I think Fox own the Badoon, which is why I never try and get my hopes up about them being involved in the film. Even if they're in it, I don't think they'd be so much as "villains" as just a presence that has influence on the story...sort of like what I think Thanos will be for most of the film.

I'm getting that feeling as well. Hopefully I'm wrong, because I wanted to see Thanos tear s**t up in GOTG. But if not, at least he'll be doing it a year later in TA2. If he's the villain, that is.

Kang's involvement makes me slightly excited especially if they can work the Young Avengers into that angle further down the line.

Really? Are you saying that because their first appearance was in Silver Surfer? I hope that isn't the case...

That's basically why I'm saying it, yeah. That said, Marvel might have the rights to them because they're mostly used in non-FF related comics though, despite first appearing in Silver Surfur.

I think there are a lot of split rights scenarios on the horizon with Guardians.

Saying whoever uses them first. Or was it that both fox and marvel could use them but not mention certain things. Like magneto or being mutants. Something to that extent.

The worst part about marvel studios' cosmic launch is the silver surfer and galactus are just sitting on a shelf at fox. When I think marvel, cosmic, thanos, the silver surfer is the first thing to come to mind. it's a real waste not having him. This could have been the silver sufers big time to shine.

And Feige said that the only characters that are in the "grey area" are the Maximoffs and the Skrulls to a certain extent, almost all the other characters are very clearly defined. That said, I have a feeling Viper/Madame HYDRA falls under that area as well.

As for SS, it does suck but I don't think he's necessary really, and Galactus is especially not needed. Admittedly though, he would create the best opportunity to do a cosmic-solo film, as he's the most popular solo cosmic character for a reason. They could do one with Nova, but it wouldn't be the same I guess.

if Marvel owned the rights to Silver Surfer maybe we wouldnt be seeing a Guardians movie so i don't mind it.

Having said that I hope we see a proper Silver Surfer movie after the FF reboot

Open in the Future, with a tight shot on Captain America's Shield, pull back to see the Original Guardians of the Galaxy fighting a slew of unknown enemies (later to be revealed as the Universal Church of Truth). The Guardians are holding them off to allow Yondu the time to escape through a time portal to the past to prevent the rise of the Magus, with a device that will allow him to track the Magus' power signal in the past.

Cut to Earth and launch of a NASA spaceship that is taking Peter Quill an Astronaut into outer space (pick a reason why), something goes wrong, wormhole or some such, and zip-pow, he's on the other side of the universe... come out the worm hole into the middle of a giant space battle around what appears to be a giant head floating in space.

Cut to Sanctuary (Thanos' Ship for the uninitiated), with the loss of the chitauri army to the Avengers, Thanos enlists the Controller to create a new slave army.

Cut to Knowhere (the afore mentioned giant floating head) Peter Quill is on board, in a bar trying to figure out what the hell is going on, when a disheveled Yondu approaches Peter Quill for help (with an Obvious sense that he know's who Peter is), some hijinks ensues (with a quant encounter with a telepathic Russian Dog) and we have ourselves a rag-tag band of heroes ready to go out and help the time traveler save his timeline.

Quick cut to our first look at the collector talking to his "Aide" (who we all really know is his daughter Carina). He has is first vision of an upcoming war against Thanos.

We're back as our Heroes head out, with the aid of Yondu's device, to track down the Magus. They come to a world that is populated by Bug-like creature that are currently fighting a war against the Contollers forces (a red skinned people...see what I did there, we're on Sakaar total setup for Planet Hulk happening right here... and that same worm hole Quill went through, a reason they have the technology to control other creatures, even a Hulk... I love when a plan comes together. Anyway I digress) Fighting along side the Insectoids is Adam Warlock. Yondu's tracker takes them right into the fight, first they fight off the controllers forces, then we get Warlock vs. The Guardians... It all gets resolved with Yondu pissed and wanting Warlock dead, to save his future, Quill wont have anything to do with it because Warlock's a hero now and cannot be judged for crimes he has yet to commit, they form an uneasy alliance to take on the Controller together. The Insectoids dub Peter Quill "StarLord"

We'll speed this up now, fight through the Controller's forces, epic showdown against the controller, maybe Drax get's controlled and now we get Drax vs. Guardians w/ Warlock (because honestly Drax vs. Warlock in the Soul Gem was pretty awesome, and that was dumb Drax, let's see this with smart Drax!) Good Guys win the day, Drax is saved, Controller is defeated. Thanos teleports in to retried the Contoller's technology (maybe we make it the Cosmic Control Rod, just for giggles to setup an Annihillation movie?) We get a great stare-down shot of Star-Lord, Warlock and Thanos. Thanos teleports out, to Sanctuary and is off.

The Guardians with Warlock all head back to Knowhere.

Back to the Collector, Carina offers to chase after Thanos only to be told by the Collector that there is another matter that requires her attention.

Back in the bar on Knowhere; Quill is talking to Yondu, and Yondu is still pissed that Warlock is alive, Quill promises to keep any eye on him and not let things get out of controll. Yondu takes him at his word, and time-travels back to his own time, only to find that nothing has changed, as we pan across the future carnage, we come to rest on a giant statue of StarLord (similar to the one at the end of the Thanos Imperative)

Roll Credits...

Post Credit Scene

A panning shot of deep space, pull out on huge space ship... it explodes violently... A Glowing naked body flies out through the blast wave across the screen... First look at Michael Korvac

Now, I know this is high-level and there would obviously be great quippy one-liners from Rocket Raccoon, a fair amount of "I am Groot" followed by awesome carnage, Gamora and Drax laying waste in amazing fight scenes, I would also have the Nova Corps be most of the security force on Knowhere, I wouldn't introduce any specific Nova's yet, but in a nut shell that would be the movie I would make, Followed by Guardians 2 with Korvac and Guardians 3: Annihilation... Enjoy!

The quest for the shield (its issues 1-6 of the 90s series. I don't know if anything will be borrowed from that series however mr Gunn was reading it). With Yondu in the picture perhaps they will use his ties to Thanos (Thanos is his god)

Annihilation (anything you can get your hands on)

The 2008 guardians series (25 issues...the cheapest thing to do is to purchase the digital comics)

The Thanos Imperative mini series

The above should be more than enough...i guess you could also pick up their apperances in avengers assemble but i doubt anything is borrowed from these as they came in fairly late

1969 Guardians: Marvel Super-Heroes #18, Thor Annual #6, Avengers #167-177...anything from the 90s comic.

2008 Guardians: Annihilation Conquest, 2008 Guardians run, Thanos Imperative...for the individual members: Marvel Preview #4, Strange Tales #180-181, Warlock #9-11
