They constantly show "movie disney" on "t.v. Disney" whenever they get the chance, so I see not what the difference is.

Your to far gone for me to convince you, so I just going to say one last thing and then quit talking. They don't show movies like The Lion King on toon Disney. Haven't in awhile. Airing movies and airing shows also have different rules. Having a young human main character who dies from having their neck snapped by the hero. Is different than an adult talking lion whos death isn't even seen on screen.

I'm a bit torn. To me, that DEATH OF GWEN STACY remains one of the most powerful and gut-wrenching ASM stories to me, even after years of retcons and whatnot added to it. That said, part of me fears that Gwen Stacy's death has become larger than her life in the eyes of many writers, much as the line between Jean Grey and Phoenix is a thin one, if any, right now.

Gwen Stacy was a key part of Spider-Man's life for over ten years in real time before her tragic death. She was a vital character and aspect of the mythos and part of me sees it as a shame that all most readers and writers see to her is her death.

As for whether it could happen...I imagine it could be done in a way suitable for Saturday Morning. John Semper managed it with dimensional portals (Peter never did find MJ again in that 90's show, did he? She was spinning in that void, forever), and Fox Kids in the 90's was far more strict than the CW or any network now. Besides, Weisman has pushed the envelop before.

That said, I would rather not spend episodes or seasons counting down to Gwen's death. I enjoyed Bendis' version of her in ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN and was completely disgusted that he ended up doing what fans in the 70's accused those writers of doing; sacrificing Gwen to make a villain seem tough. While for Osborn, I thought it worked, but for Ultimate Carnage, it really was a waste, especially since Ultimate Carnage wasn't even a villain, but a near mindless, mute monster.

Losing Gwen was part of the loss of Spider-Man's innocence in a way, even after losing her father to Dr. Octopus. I'm not sure that needs to happen in high school. Besides, can't we explore this character for another avenue besides dying near a bridge?

I say, at least until the gang moves to college around Season 5, let her live!

It isn't, Greg made her that way because he wanted to show how he imagined she would be in High School before she gets to blossom later on.

Well, according to the early comics Gwen was still a beauty Queen even in High School so I put this more to Weisman's making a change for the better for this series.

I kinda think this is why they turned her into the, sorta nerdy, friend, (who secretly has a crush on him) type,(basically like Chloe in SV) instead a main love interest

cause, with her being just a friend, her death (though, would still have an impact) wouldn't have the same meaning as it did in the comics
therefore, making it unnecessary

You have a point.

Well Gwen does still has a year and a half before High School finishes, right? I'm not familiar with the US school system so can someone confirm that fact?

They show them all the time when ratings are in question or the current big hit shows have started their cycle of reruns. Just a month or two ago, I remember seeing Mulan being aired.
In any case, I doubt the death has to be exactly like "neck snapping" fall in the comics. I only used the Lion King as a comparable example of how they have used a main character falling to their death before, which gives them room to work here.

She did appear in the last episode of the series :cwink:

Oh yeah. Forgot about that. She was married to the Armored Suit Billionaire Spider-man, right?

We will probably see Gwen go through many changes in high school before she ever dies. I think she will begin to become that beauty queen especially with MJ being her friend and giving her advice. I think MJ will be a major factor in Gwen's life and when she dies perhaps in college it will also affect MJ as well.

MAJOR W&TXM sPoilers here but...

Emma Frost dies at the end of Wolverine & The X-Men's first season. It happens in a way that mirrors something she recovered from in the comics but somehow I don't see her coming back to life next season.

Kida's dad dies on screen in Atlantis as do some villains.

Well, Gwen died from falling over an edge pretty much. Seeing how Weisman did that to kill people in Gargoyles and no one censored it they can get away with it here.

They've also been killing people left and right on Clone Wars.

I'd like to see the Death of The Stacys (Gwen AND George) in animated form...

There's been death done on toons before. I remember Darkseid vaporizing Superman's friend Dan Turpin on the 90's Superman cartoon...however; no body. As November Rain pointed out earlier, are corpses allowed?

That scene on the bridge may have to be altered somewhat...i really dont know.

yea if greg does plan to have gwenie pooh bit the big one there is tons of ways they can do it. Though if they do it i so hope they have norman do the deed.

See...basically, so long as a corpse/body/cadaver or any variation isn't shown in detail...and the death is handled in a tasteful/artistic way...then I'd say it's fine.

yea as long as it shown in some why she is dead i would be fine with what they do.

Good point. It's one thing to kill only one Stacey off but what about both?

Honestly I can see Captain Stacy biting the dust in the series, but not until maybe season 4 or 5. For Gwen I'm hoping they keep her alive until the DTVs

They need to do it. It's hard not to fall in love with her character on the show, and the death would have a big impact.

True. I can see them killing Cap offscreen. Like maybe he tells sPidey to take care of Gwen before he goes into the on-coming building collapse and all we see is rubble falling and sPidey screaming "NOOO!" or whatever in the end of the episode.

Next ep is the funeral episode.

I'm split.

Yes because it's faithful to the comics, and it would be pretty ballsy for a saturday-morning cartoon.

No because this version of Gwenny has melted my heart with her moe-ness (if I'm using that term correctly) :( .
