The Force Awakens Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma

There's a spoiler in there but no one will be surprised.

'Force Awakens' star Gwendoline Christie weighs in on Captain Phasma versus Boba Fett

Thirty-five years ago, the world was introduced to a masked villain who said few words but won the hearts and minds of fans by just being so darn cool. He was Boba Fett, and [BLACKOUT]while the character doesn’t appear in The Force Awakens[/BLACKOUT], the new Star Wars film does have its own mysterious evildoer in armor: Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma.
Hah! And she got put on this spot with that question! Then, for strategic reasons, she dodged it. :oldrazz:

Wow, really? That's a bit of a shame. However they have already stated she'll have a bigger part in the next films.

Yeah, gotta say this character was disappointing.

Did she do anything "bad ass" at all?

Nup. [BLACKOUT]Hell, she even gets taken out in a "jokey" way.[/BLACKOUT]

Glad to hear she'll be back for the next one. Hopefully she earns that pre-release hype.

Then they really weren't kidding when they said she's a "Boba Fett type character". :funny:

I get the feeling Phasma is going to have a much bigger role to play in Episode VIII. In hindsight this is much more of an introduction and laying the ground work for the future.

I believe it was Kennedy who mentioned that was the case.

I just hope you guys who found her disappointing or underused realize she is def coming back for episode 8 as Kennedy said recently. So we will see more.

I was extremely disappointed in her character. Her booking has the kind of incompetence you only see in WWE writing. They built up her so good (and Gwendolyne has one of the best villain voices this side of Benedect Cumberbatch), yet she gets put away in such an insipid manner.

[BLACKOUT]She was literally just a comic relief for the film, such a damn shame from an otherwise fantastic film.[/BLACKOUT]

She was nothing, but that's not a valid complaint, I think. In-movie, she has a role, she serves it, end of story. In real life, they overhyped the hell out of her, it's their fault. If you strictly look at her function in TFA, she's fine, she's there, it's done. No buildup, no letdown.

That's a good point. She's not a bad character, but the marketing hyped her up to be of way more importance.

I hope she has a bigger role in episode 8.

Gwendoline Christie is such an amazing actress.

Yeah, I think in hindsight it would have been wise maybe to just leave the character as a bit of a mystery and not hype the hell out of her. Can't help but think bigger things are install for Episode VIII.

How did they really hype the hell out of her though?

There's been countless articles I've seen written about her for a start.

By making a big deal out of her character and her sex and having Gwen Christie in most interviews and press conferences as if Phasma was something bigger than she was.
