Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows - Part 2

I like Ebert's last paragraph. I think most people probably want that.

Are you referring to him saying there's an opening at the end for a sequel? I personally do not want to see JK Rowling write an 8th book. I love this series but like everything is has to have an end.

On a side note: it appears Armond White's review has been removed from RT. Most likely a glitch and it'll be back soon. But I find that hilarious. I imagine the editor of RT is like "that's it, we're not putting up with your s**t anymore."

The comments section on White's review had gotten totally out of control. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Maybe, but its been like that for almost any negative review that has popped up. The other four rotten have like the most comments.

I really wish Rotten Tommatoes would do that. I'm all for differing opinnions, but he is a joke.

I feel the same. I support anyone who has a differing opinion where they back it up with reasons why. I tried giving him a chance thinking he just has different views of things but his reviews just baffle me. Gave up on defending his viewpoints awhile ago when he praised terrible movies while stating great ones are crimes against cinema.

I'm looking at White's reviews and I can't believe it. He's given rotten to Inception (which I don't like but I still think fresh) Inglourious Basterds, First Class, Up and fracking Toy Story 3. While he's given fresh to Jonah Hex, Last Song, GI Joe, Land of the Lost, and Rise of the Silver Surfer. I've just heard of the guy and I already hate him.

The guys the definition of 'tool'.

Just talked to my friend who works at the theater and it's official...ALL 25 SHOWS for tomorrow nights midnight release are sold out. Wow.

I like to believe it's one big long con for him, and he's just really taking the piss at critics with this troll act.

I like to believe

^LOL, the man is infamous for going against the grain. If he gives a big movie coming out a fresh, pretty good chance its going to be crap. All my hopes for Terminator Salvation went down the drain when I saw his positive two years ago.

Highly debatable. And as they say 'even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while'.

Once again, and this time it seems more suitable:

Just wasn't my type of movie. I'm not saying its a bad movie. I just didn't like the characters, I'm not a fan of the main actor, and it was a little to out there for me. Some parts i enjoyed, but as a whole it wasnt my cup of tea. A friend of mine loved it, and its nothing like his usual type of movie. Its one of those films I guess.

What about a review from an extreme Christian who thinks these movies are awful because magic is evil and it promotes Satan?

Differing reviews are fine when your critiques have actual film related points.

Heh, I'm just being stupid. I hate arguing about films online. It's all opinions.

That said, Scott Pilgrim :hrt::heart:.

Well that's more bias than opinion.

Plus, usually all the extremist Christian reviews have done little research and simply play the, "It has WITCHES, must be Satanic!" card.

Or they say that the movies do have positive messages of friendship and love, but since it involves witchcraft, they can't recommend it.

ItsJustSomeRandomGuy is at it again...hopefully you all have seen most of his videos to get some of the inside jokes

I was actually surprised that the books never addressed religion, at all. Given the history witchcraft and religion have had in Europe.

Harry Potter's religion (if he has any) is never touched upon. Wizards in general are rather areligious. You would think they'd have their own religions.

Technically they do have their own religion I would think. Only some are more extremist about it than others.

Well the Death Eaters practically worshipped Voldemort, so they could count.

I did find it odd that Hogwarts celebrates Christmas, but they probably just do that because of all the muggle-borns and half-muggle wizards. I can't see pure bloods being big on muggle religions (especially given how anti-withcraft many of them are).

Rowling was probably wise to avoid such a sensitive subject.

did they actually use the term? christmas? i cant remember. The christmas tree is pagan in origin though, as are most christmas decor. it'd be more appropriate if they just used the term "holiday" or "winter solstice", though i celebrate christmas, and am far from being christian. so who knows?

Yes it's definitely Christmas. They give presents. While it's true that the tree tradition are of pagan origin, the ones they use in the movies are clearly based on the modern Christianized version (the star of Bethlehem on the top). The suits of armor also sing carols.

They have a Yule Ball though.
