  • Magical!

  • Almost perfect

  • Bloody good!

  • Decent

  • Meh

  • Overrated

  • Not bloody good at all

  • Glad it's over

  • Reboot! Reboot! (that's for you, Matt :P)

  • I only saw it for the Dark Knight teaser

Hey guys, I saw the movie twice today (first time I've every done that for any Potter movie) and one thing still continues to confuse me. Why the hell could Hermione not just pull out Bellatrix's wand to show to the goblin when the four were in Gringotts? Was that a continuity error? Because she uses the wand later in scene to try and find the Horcrux in the vault.
Because they couldn't be sure if that was a "test" or not. If Gringotts had been warned about impostors, they may have also been warned that the impostors had Bellatrix's wand. So if they presented the wand, that may have been the sign of guilt the Goblins were looking for, and if they went with the "it was stolen" excuse, they may not have been allowed back into the vault. They had no way of knowing which was the right answer.

By the way, I didn't care for the score, but I'm glad to hear the Williams theme close out the last scene and the end credits. It was a shame they didn't bring Williams back for the whole film. That guy flat out knows how to write an epic score for something like this.

I think he was busy with Warhorse and im not sure if he is doing Tintin also

edit:Not only is he doing Tintin but he's doing Lincoln to so Mr Spielberg is keeping him busy

Just saw DH2. AWESOME! Definitely the best movie of summer 2011. It was one of the best Potter movies, easily (better than Half-Blood Prince, DH1, and I'd say COS too). I'm very glad they brought back some of John William's themes from the first Potter movies, especially in the Epilogue scene. This is a darn near perfect series of films. What a complicated feat and great success.

Hey two quick questions for the Harry Potter fanatics:

I have read the books, but only one time each book, and I haven't read them since DH came out in bookstores...

so my questions:

1. Is it ever explained how Harry Potter always had the invisibility cloak in his possession throughout the entire series? So Potter always had the cloak, one of the Deathly Hallows... but he only gets the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone in the last book???

2. Did the book Epilogue ever explain what Harry, Ron, and Hermione did with their lives? All I remember is they had kids/got married. What about their professions? I could see Hermione becoming like Professor McGonagal (spelled that wrong!), but I can't figure out what Harry/Ron would do.

Thanks!

The cloak was passed down from James to Harry by Dumbledore.

Hermione worked in department of regulation of magical creatures to help house-elves and such. Then she moved higher up I think into Law Enforcement. Harry and Ron become Aurors.

Kinda funny to think that Harry Potter probably ends up being "The Greatest Wizard who ever Lived" since he is going to be known as defeating Voldermort. His kid must HATE having him as a dad. lol

I saw Harry Potter 7.2 and will say this:

People really need to stop applauding at the end of movies. Do they think the images on screen can hear them?! People who do this should simply be shipped off to North Korea along with bicyclists who hog the road. The only time to clap at the end of a film is if the makers of the movie are on stage afterwards. If not, SILENCE IS ****ING GOLDEN!

Why did he snap the Elder Wand at the end? He was supposed to repair his Phoenix-feather wand with it then return it to Dumbledore's grave. Sure he could've just repaired his old wand and then snapped the Elder Wand, but still I would've liked to have seen that part on film

Went to see again and notice something Somebody mentioned that

We Never saw Wormtail die and to be honest was he even in the 2nd part of the movie? The last I remember seeing of him was him getting hit by Dobby in part 1.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that, for many of these people its the culmination of their childhood and their just showing their appreciation. Doesn't matter who's there or not. It's why people also dress up, its part of the experience, clapping is just one of them. Silence is necessary during the movie unless there's a reason to react.

You're right he probably should've done that but that would've just been unnecessary and slowed the pacing of the film. Doesn't need to be shown. Especially when its near the end, before the epilogue. Snapping the Elder Wand just signified that Harry doesn't care about the power of the wand, he never has.

They've stated that they have not shown his death, and I don't think he is in Part 2 at least I don't remember seeing.

The culmination of their childhood....for the past couple of days I've heard this phrase mentioned over and over this past couple of weeks. I will not take anything away from anyone who grew up watching these films and reading the books. Im sure its a big thing. I know as a kid watching ROTJ was a big thing....however the only way this movie is the culmination of your childhood is unless your Harry Potter

No one who made the movie can hear you clap. This isn't a stage play. David Yates can't hear you. Approval of a movie is buying a ticket.

Applause should be withheld for a live performance of something to give nonverbal communication of a job well done, not personal appreciation. I appreciate a good pastrami sandwich, but I don't clap after finishing a meal at Katz's Deli. Clapping after a movie is beyond moronic and low class. If the culmination of someone's childhood is witnessing the final Harry Potter film, I feel deeply sorry for them. It's just not fantasy movies either, people also clap at the end of documentaries. I can't stand it!

finally saw it today LOVED IT! pure epicness (especially when you watch 1 and 2 back to back)

my only criticisms would be that I felt some important deaths (especially like fred's) should have been shown... not glossed through. And I also wanted to see more of the teachers kick ass.. in the book didn't professor Trauny (i so know that's miss spelled), throw crystal balls at... I think Fenrir?

I loved seeing professor Sprout again though, and I know Oliver Wood has a cameo.. was he the one leading the pack of wizards on brooms in battle?, loved the small connections to all the past books too.. like the black forest spiders, the cornish pixies, etc..

Also... did the centaurs fight in the battle in the book? i was kind of surprised to not see them there helping fight for hogwarts.

i just realized that! very odd...

actually clapping at movies is a holdover from before wide release was created...when movies opened in cities at different times and would have a studio rep their to guage audience response

I'm sure people clapping at the end of Harry Potter 8 just KNEW that a studio rep was there to hear how much they loved the film. :whatever:

i certainly dont clap...but i dont care if people clap...dont understand this heavy hatred for it either...way i see it is its gonna happen either way so...let it go.

Saw it last night.

It was Good, but lacking. Don't know what, but it felt like it was missing some extra Polish. But, It was better than most Potter Movies. But I think I enjoyed DH 1 and HBP more with POA being my favorite. I think the series should of had a better director the past few movies than Yates. It deserved better.

Really didn't like the Centaurs and Gawp absence from the film. It was a needless change as well as the whole not repairing his own wand thing. Also didn't like that Lupin and Tonks kid was glossed over(one line of dialogue). Why bother throwing it out there at the very end? When did Harry ever find out? I felt like DH 1 and 2 were not planed out well. Also McGonall(SP?) needed a battle scene.

Ughhh I have to wait till Monday night to watch this on IMAX 3D!

That makes absolutely no sense. But then again, they are just movies. Their childhood should have ended when the last book came out. I love the movies and all. I've watched them countless times but they certainly don't live up to the books, emotionally.
