Harvey Dent/Two-Face Thread

I'm getting flashbacks of that one guy that was constantly posting shirtless pictures of random Instagram nobody actors as fancasts for Bruce Wayne a couple of months ago.

Except that James Wolk is an actual actor. And a good one at that!

I'm hoping the MCU grabs MM for Adam Warlock, but if he is the running for this, hey.

Personally I want to see Dent's fall from grace again. I enjoyed Nolan's take, but there's absolutely room for more adaptations of the tale- especially from someone like Matt Reeves.

How do you guys feel about his face color, would you prefer blue, green, purple, white or just like regular burnt Flesh? Call me crazy but I'd like kind of like to see a bluish tint to it, I don't think it makes much sense realistically but oh well

I can see several different kinds of actors playing Two Face. Oscar Issac, Terrance Howard, Michael B Jordan, Ryan Gosling, are a few names that come to mind if we're talking big named actors.

One great choice would be Gary Carr... his work in The Deuce is superb. Terrific actor with such a layered performance!

Big name: Oscar Isaac

Smaller name: Hugh Dancy

Either one.

I’d be cool with seeing his fall from grace again as long as he returns for a future film or 2 as the fully fledged villain. I don’t just want to see him like that for a bit at the end of one film like TDK.

The thing is I'm not even really sure as to what story can you tell with Two Face as the main villain that you need 2 hours and the budget of a blockbuster movie to tell it.

He's one of those villains that can never really be the centerpiece of a story because his shtick once he becomes a supervillain isn't that challenging for Batman. He's a great adversary for an episode of an animated series, or single issues, but I can't remember any Two Face as the main villain story that would need 2 hours of a big film to tell. Maybe Dark Victory? I don't know.

I actually think Mr. Freeze has a similar problem. He's a great villain... but could you reaally make him the main villain of a blockbuster movie? I don't really think so, he just seems too straight-forward and personal in a way.

Regular burnt flesh

I don’t know, maybe a TAS blue tint thing is better if you’re bringing back Two-Face a bunch after the disfiguration. You give him a “realistic” Dark Knight burn (I’m feeling hungry for some brisket now) and I can’t stop thinking about all the infections he’s catching.

Strong disagree. You could reduce any villain that way. It's the same deal for Penguin, Riddler, etc. It all comes down to the writing. The key is not to reduce Two-Face to the coin/chance gimmick or a glorified mob boss. Two-Face is so versatile you can go in basically any direction with him. You can use him as a dangerous serial killer ala TDK or like Anton Chigurh, you can use him as a political mastermind who wants to own the city like Kingpin, you can portray him as the leader of the rest of the supervillains (Dark Victory), you can make him a personal mission or foil for Batman, you can set him on a path pursuing a twisted sense of justice, hell you can even just use him as a less crazy and more stable version of the Joker. Plus he's not as much of a pushover physically as Joker, Riddler, Penguin etc, and his origin is of course a major deal.

The way I see it, Two-Face is a good measure of the quality of the writing. I for one gladly welcome the use of these villains. Maybe it'll force some actual creativity rather than rehashing the same old plots with the Joker, Bane, etc.

And yes, you can easily have Mr. Freeze as the main villain for a movie. Come on.

The Batman TAS episode ''Heart of Ice'' and movie ''Sub-Zero'' give you a perfect roadmap to follow in adapting a feature length movie Batman movie with Freeze as the main villain.
