First Avenger has everyone forgotton that wolverine played a major part of the cap's history?

yeah i know all the copyright smeg i have worked on films for years, i even did my stint at paramount and univsal and for a couple of months and il be back there eventually so i know the ins and outs, but i had that same feeling that you just expressed. i was unsure where ever now that bloody disney own all marvel then do they have over ride over the other characters now too

Well, Disney's lawyers aka the law firm of Satan, Beelzebub, and Goldstein are working on it. That's why Sony is rebooting Spidey, and fox is trying their best to get a DD and FF reboot done so as not to get butt raped in court. One time I find myself rooting for the devil. :o

A little throw-away line would be cool. Maybe Cap and Bucky just chatting with some soldiers out on the front.

"Hey, Steve, remember that first unit they had us with? 'Buncha palookas - Jimmy, Ralph, that psychopath Logan..."

i bet all the producers have forgotton that wolverine should at least have a cameo the in captain america movie, i certainly havent even how small it could be!! Oh i bet disney is going to wreak marvel I really do

what do you reckon guys?

its most probably wont happen so we might as well face it - but who knows if we chat about it anough it might get a quick mention, im actually gutted we didnt see a flash of cap in the opening credits of wolvie (but this is a cap thread not a wolvie one so i wont go on about that)

so what do you think?

The Hulk played a major part in Wolverine's history.
Spider-Man played a major part in the Punisher's history.
The FF played a major part in Spider-Man's history.
Doesn't mean they need to show up in each others' movies.
(I won't go into all the obvious reasons why it can't happen anyway, as I'm certain it's been covered.)

"Major" is an overstatement. Wolverine wasn't a major part of Cap's history. They just worked together once or twice during the war. Namor and the Human Torch were a bigger part of caps history.

This just reeks of wolverine fanboyism. Quite frankly, I'm tired of Wolverine, and am sooo glad that he won't show up in a Cap movie.

yea its cool when they can do these crossover things. But like we already know. Due to mutants/ff/dd at fox, and spidey at sony/etc.... Those licensed out characters can not cross over into the marvel studios universe at this time.

True. The Logan/Cap WWII connection was an unnecessary retcon that IMO hasn't really added much to either character. It's just seems to be a rule these days that Wolverine must be old friends with everybody.

yeah i know it is my wolvie fanboyism coming out but i feel his origin film could of been ten times better and more thought out, but the sad reality is - they make these flicks so they are more accesible to a wider audience, so using known characters for them is an easy cop out.
seeing as the're probly gonna rape ruin and change and shift scripts to please everyone, coz guess what guys not evryone knows the comics as well as we do, they prob gonna do things ;like that anyway so i was just asking to see how you prefered they did it.

And i know this is an avengers question really, but do you think they're just gonna stick to the original line up or use more popular more well known characters together? Unfortunatly i'm thinking the latter - and obviously the original line up of xmen was shiffted around for the same reason.

anyway I'd like to see some reference even if it is verbal.

They're going original line up, mainly because they can't use Spidey or Wolverine. If they could, sadly, they probably would. But they can't so they ain't, and thats a blessing if you ask me.

I agree. I'm very thankful they don't have the rights to Wolverine and Spider-Man in this instance. There are so many characters that have been Avengers longer and are more deserving of a position in an Avengers film. Many of them won't even have a chance to appear in their own solo film if they don't appear in Avengers first. If Marvel had the chance, they would probably have Spidey and Wolvie as founding members and make them become long standing veteran members that probably outlast even Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor.

I don't think Spider-Man or Wolverine truly belong in the Avengers world. The Marvel universe is connected, but it is seperated into worlds. There is the cosmic world, the mutant world, the government/Avengers world, and street level.

Wolverine is a part of the mutant world and Spider-Man throughout most of his history was a street level superhero. No one major. I don't think they add anything to the Avengers on film, cause that world is not their environment. I absolutely HATE the fact Spider-Man and Wolverine have been thrust upon the Avengers world like they have. They have had tons of crap stories as a result, and this is because this is not where they work best!

I'm glad Marvel can't try and force them into Avengers, and we're getting actual Avengers based characters.

I don't think Wolvie played a major part in Caps history......not major at all.

There is also the magical world with guys like Dr. Strange, Hellstorm, Ghost Rider, Blade, etc.

I agree that the different segments of the Marvel world don't always blend together well.

His "major part" was a single story most readers wish hadn't been published. Too many different elements that have to be explained, and weren't in story.

To bring this up in the film just to try and justify this forgotten and forgetable tale as canonical would force the movie to have to stop and lay explanatory details in. There is also the issue of whetehr the Wolverine Intellectual property is contractually available for the Cap movie.

My money is on "not available".

Hey was an old friend of Jesus, they called him Disciple X

Interesting... but are you saying this because of the legal rights all over the place or because it's just convenient to keep them separate and concede that some parts can never co-exists in live action or comics for that matter? I'd have trouble putting the mutant world in Marvel's universe right now, but keep in mind they are adding a whole new dimension with Thor shortly. Could not then mutants show up at any time if it were feasible? I'm just not ready to completely discount that they can co-exists with each other. When you mention street heroes, Spidey and a lot of Marvel characters are confined to the New York Metropolitan area, so while they may be known around the globe, they have a limited vicinity in which they work with, so they wouldn't necessarily tangle with things like The Avengers. So yeah it can be kept separate, but they can also co-exists under valid circumstances.

I agree. Without the mutants, you don't have two of the Avengers best members of all time, Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. (Magneto's kids) Not to mention Beast. My thing is if they're gonna create one cohesive universe, I'd much rather they be under a new Marvel/Disney's continuity and not Sony's or Fox's. Once they get the rights back restart the whole damn thing.

good points about continuity guys. and Feige has already stated that hes very interested in the Cosmic characters. i agree that Thor opens up the doors to a lot of the Supernatural and Cosmic guys. plus they dont have to interact with the regular folks all the time. a nod here or there would be ok tho.

well i bet they want to get to characters like doc strange post 2012.
