"The rest is window dressing."
Yeah, not biased there at all.

Yeah, not biased there at all.
Are you freaking kidding me? A large portion of the fans pick these books to find out what is going to happen next to their characters and the end of story, hyping that and not delivering is just shady. No fan ever gets the full story, that'd include behind the scenes, what gets scrapped, what got changed, etc etc.
Maybe not window dressing per se, lol, but there is a lot of extra detail that could have been minimalized. I don't need to know the full menu of their dining tables, lol."The rest is window dressing."
Yeah, not biased there at all.
One, why are you being so hostile?Oh, now we have a fan telling other fans who are the relevant characters. Only the Lannister brothers off your list are my favorites i love to learn about + Jon Snow.
Not to mention, when George R.R Martin himself talks how the characters are different, who are we to judge the creator?! Hmmm!!!!
Exactly. It is a very personal thing, and many have made it clear how they feel on this matter. Especially when faced with not really being able to avoid it. Unless you are going to shut your life down and hide, you aren't going to be able to avoid the info. I don't like the idea of avoiding a television show you have been really invested in for 5 years because of something like this.If those fans feel so strongly about that, i can't be the one to judge or comment, since hype feelings are personal. I've only cared about A song of fire and ice since the tv show, but i have read the books + the duncan stuff + princess and the queen.
It is all reletive. We are talking about fandom, on a fan forum.I refuse to take anything this seriously. There are much more important things to worry about.
I love Stannis, Mel, the Hound, Davos, Selmy, etc."The rest is window dressing."

Oberon, have you read the blog: gameofthronesandnorsemythology.blogspot.com
It's really fun stuff comparing GoT to Ragnarok. I especially like the idea of:
Jaime Lannister as Azor Ahai, but it ignores the book's Cersei prophecy of all her children dying + it follows the fan theory that Aerys raped Tywin's wife.
Of course it is his right. But it is also why he gets the questions. That's his right to decide what to do with it. I don't want it to happen, but at least we'll get an ending to the series with the show.
That isn't comparable. If you are a fan of the books and shows, you are already attuned to the world, the characters, the story. You notice when someone mentions certain things. The only person who should care is GRRM since its his work. If you don't want to be spoiled, it's really not that hard. I've never seen a minute of Mad Men, Breaking Bad, or The Walking Dead or heard any spoilers and I haven't gone out of my way to avoid them.
Well that is because there is a big difference between watching a show based on the book, and reading a version of something you have already seen.I also don't get why no one cares about saying, "I can't wait to see this on the show" but can't say, "I can't wait to see this play out in the book." Seeing the show and reading the book are two completely different experiences. The only major difference is you won't see people *****ing on forums about deviations from the book.
Fandom is different for every person. Just look at sports.I've only been following the books since the show started, it would suck if I started back in 1998 when the first one came out. But I also have perspective. There are a lot of TV shows or games I've liked get canceled before getting a proper ending or other shows/games/movies that turned into disappointments. None of this has stopped the Earth from rotating. There will always be something else to fill the void when one thing ends.
One, why are you being so hostile?
Second, I like GRRM. He talks out of both sides of his mouth when it suits him.
Third, I think most would agree on the most important characters. Especially considering the show runners have tailored the show accordingly. They after all know where it is all headed.

I love Stannis, Mel, the Hound, Davos, Selmy, etc.
But to the grander tale of ASoIaF, those are the characters that are the heart. The rest are working in service of them. They are the end game, those that will actually matter when Winter Comes. And this is coming from someone who hates Dany.
Not if what I think is going to happen, happens.Jaime does not belong there if you only go from Ice and Fire, he has a beautiful story arc and a powerful character arc, but in the end he's a sideshow. "window dressing" as you'd call it.
Big spoilers, so people don't read this if you don't want to know. That's not much different from what is expected to happen to Davos, andJaime is very likely going to die with Cersei. If not be the cause of it.
I mean you're making hugely broad statements about what's vital and what isn't, yet Jaime's whole storyline has no greater impact on the world at large than say, Stannis. Maybe even less so because Stannis at least has done something thar actually matters in the war between Ice and Fire.
Is asking it over and over going to make the book come out sooner? SPOILER: It isn't.Of course it is his right. But it is also why he gets the questions.
It consists of the same approach, don't read articles, message boards, or talk about it with other people. There are other things you can put your attention to.That isn't comparable. If you are a fan of the books and shows, you are already attuned to the world, the characters, the story. You notice when someone mentions certain things.
Yet one is acceptable and the other isn't. Hooray fan "logic"!Well that is because there is a big difference between watching a show based on the book, and reading a version of something you have already seen.
If one hobby consumes your life so much that your emotionally distraught, you have a problem.Fandom is different for every person. Just look at sports.
So why do you care if people ask? It has no effect on you and you don't seem to care for it.Is asking it over and over going to make the book come out sooner? SPOILER: It isn't.
You are literally telling people how to live their lives, and then get mad at question asked to GRRM.It consists of the same approach, don't read articles, message boards, or talk about it with other people. There are other things you can put your attention to.
Well in this case it started as a book series. That is kind of the whole point.Yet one is acceptable and the other isn't. Hooray fan "logic"!
Or are simply passionate. If one hobby consumes your life so much that your emotionally distraught, you have a problem.
Davos is Davos. He has made himself the "Stannis guy". That is his thing.Yeah I disagree with a lot of that. Particularly Stannis as I feel his end has been broadcast differently than what you're suggesting. And if you think Davos is "just" the Stannis guy, well then you're wrong.
Jon's story in season 2 and 3 has been a direct problem with filming in Iceland. Now that they a have moved back to the other side of the way, I expect much, much better. And if the tv show was the indicator then why on earth would they half ass Jon's story like they have?
I have not been doing this. Though Oberon, you seem upset about the possible future of your favorites.Yeah again, I disagree. But by all means, keep spouting opinions as absolute fact.
I have not been doing this. Though Oberon, you seem upset about the possible future of your favorites.![]()
Oberon, what do you make of:
Stannis and Davos visiting the Iron Bank? I mean, it's one thing for the Iron Bank to visit Stannis to gain allegiance, but here it's Stannis looking for more soldiers? Promising to end Tywin's/Joffrey's reign? Does Stannis in the tv series have no followers left?
