Yeah i remember a friend of mine who read the books before the series he told me that Ned's death truly took him by surprise.
His reaction was: "Oh.... So.... He kinda die? Wait... Uh....ahmmmm.... He died???? What the hell??????"

So Lily Allen is saying she was originally offered the role of Yara in Game Of Thrones but turned it down as she was uncomfortable with the creepy incest scene when they first meet especially because her real life brother would play her brother in the show.

Yeah when it happens, it really isn't made out to be a big deal the way it was written. It does kind of leave you with that feeling of "Ohh.....so it did happen....."

I actually thought he died when Peter came up behind him while he was being arrested. I thought Peter stabbed him in the back literally. Then I got to another one of his chapters and was happy. Little did I know that Martin was going to kill him a few chapters latter.
