Colin Farrell (Golden Globe winner for In Bruges) plays Ray Velcoro, a troubled detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers) portrays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris) plays Ani Bezzerides, a sheriffs detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves. Taylor Kitsch (HBOs The Normal Heart) portrays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and a highway patrol motorcycle officer, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.
The disappearance of a city manager disrupts a lucrative land scheme and ignites an investigation involving three police officers and a career criminal who is moving into legitimate business.
I want it to be different from Season 1. Anyone expecting it to be the same is missing the point of an anthology series.
It'll be like every show with multiple directors. They'll follow the style set by Justin Lin and what Pizzolatto wants from them. The only main concern I have is the rotating directors. I want the season to flow visually like season 2, not be several different visions that end up becoming distracting.

Yeah, but the total cohesion and feel of Season 1 was one of the best aspects of it. Having the same director helm the entire season made it feel like one, long movie. Episode directors mimicking the style of one director isn't quite the same, although I'm sure having the same cinematographer all season (which I hope this one had) would help make things feel more cohesive.
