Drama HBO's True Detective - Part 3

Foster would be a great get, but I'm just afraid this will just be another cop show with the True Detective title attached to it or worse, copying the superficial elements of it. I can appreciate the Arctic location if true and it's not just a southern locale.

Can't really say I'm very interested in this without Nic Pizzolatto's involvement, it was his baby from the beginning (and I'm one of those who really enjoyed all three seasons, not just the first). I get it, brand recognition and all, but why not just start a brand new detective series without tying it to True Detective and it's baggage?

Looking at some of the references, this seems like it could go back to the "supernatural." There's potentially interesting stuff here. Hopefully it's in service of a larger point of what the showrunner is trying to personally achieve than for the sake of trying to replicate the tone of season one. If they can do that and don't repeat elements of season one like a cult then I can be ok with that. I hope they can avoid making it actually supernatural because that's not what TD is about.

love it, wonder if she will also direct a few episodes ?

Sounds good to me

Hate the snow. Love snow set movies. Wind River, Shining, the Grey.

Jodie Foster will be great wonder who the 2nd detective will be. Hope it's someone unexpected

Any updates on Season 4 I'll take. Curious if there'll be any tie-in to previous seasons, like Season 3 did with referencing Season 1.

I do at least hope we're just dealing with one timeline. I liked Season 3, but I'll admit that the shift from the present to the past to the further past got a bit confusing at times.

Season 3 was good, but nothing has ever reached the brilliance of the first season. With that said, Jodie Foster is dream casting and taking place in Alaska is perfect. I wonder who will play second detective.

I feel like writers need to workshop names... too many shows lately have characters with names too close to IP characters lately, it's a little annoying - be more creative.

That’s one thing I’ll give Pizzolatto, even in the second season (which I had major issues with), you wouldn’t hear names like Velcoro and Bezzerides anywhere else.

I just looked up Kali Reiss and Issa Lopez and colour me confused, one's a boxer and the other has mostly been involved in not a lot of mainstream projects.

Just seems like an unnecessary gamble for a show that struggles with wanting to be prestige TV so much.

Yeah, I just glanced Lopez's IMDB page and...yeah, can't say I'm familiar with any of her work. Doesn't look like she's written or directed anything since 2018, either. Just curious is all.

I hear her last movie is really good. That and it probably came down to the strength of her pitch. I'll give it a fair chance even if I'm not thrilled with them continuing this. I like the premise, I love Foster and it's HBO. It'll probably be good!

Fiona Shaw popping up all over the goddamn place. Good for her.

Really liking the cast they’re assembling so far.
