He'll Cancel the Pizzas: The Alfred Pennyworth Thread

I don't think Ralph Fiennes has that warmth for Alfred. He's a good actor, but even in that King's Man trailer he seems a bit cold and detached (which could be good for that character.)

If Pierce Brosnan really is a contender then he would be an interesting take. Colin Firth was a good suggestion. I also like Sean Bean.

He's an actor. He can play something with more warmth.

Not all actors can do everything. That's why people have preferences. I don't get genuine warmth from him for the role of Alfred no matter how much he would fake it.

Fiennes isn't your typical actor that just plays himself though. He's like Pattinson in the sense that he has a lot of range. He can pull it off.

I think there are others who are more naturally suited to the role and would bring something more to it. I just don't like him for the role.

I kinda get Willi Berg's point. He always seems a bit distant in his live action roles. I guess I'm ok with him because of his work in Lego Batman but he's not my fav either.

Cunningham works I think.

The man is one of the most acclaimed Shakespearean actors of his generation.
Oh, I'm sorry I thought we were talking about best actor in a Lego.

Thank you. It's settled then. :funny:

Let's agree to disagree. I just don't want him for the role of Alfred.

He is literally and objectively one of the greatest working actors. You’re saying he can’t play Batman’s Butler? Ok Jan.

The guy should play Annie he's that good!

"Objectively"? Ridic, Cindy.

We’re not talking about Paul Walker here. Fiennes is up there with John Gielgud and Peter O’Toole.

Fiennes is David Niven reincarnated in Grand Budapest

To say that Fiennes can't play a fatherly butler is just a weird opinion to have, and incorrect.

All this talk just makes me want to watch Lego Batman again :funny:.

I don't want Fiennes as Alfred because he still looks like he could pimp slap Battinson out of his suit.

I'm on team Richard E. Grant!
