Help me decide which system to get.

lol...not that bad? i've read so many people being on their 3rd 360 console, it's not even funny. and it took one of my friends 2 months to get his back because their are so many repairs going on their are are getting back-logged.

I can only go by my experience, of 5-6 friends I know who have a 360, I'm the only one who got the RRoD and had my console back within two weeks of making the call to Microsoft. I wanted to be pissed, scream and yell, but really couldn't because the service was so good.

Now on to the main thing, games. I've heard a LOT of times that "The PS3 has NO games", this is false. The 360 does have a larger library however, no doubt. However I have MORE than enough to keep me busy inbetween the games I really want. Take these last few months, one month I buy COD4, the next GTA4, next month MGS4 comes out, month after SF4. Games like Tekken 6, FF XIII, Little Big Planet, Haze, and several others are very close to release. Plus there's Home which will offer tons of connectivity and cool **** to do with your friends list.

I honestly do not regret in any way shape or form buying my PS3.

I cant beleive people sitll use the "PS3 has no games line" Thats something that may have been true for its first year, but its long since expired. I bought my PS3 in July knowing full well I wouldnt be buying a game till October's GTA4 release (which never happened) I got VF5 that summer but realized I wasnt really much of a fighting fan again. I think the PS3 games really started to come out starting with Warhawk's release and its been building since. Lack of games really shoulnt be used a negative against it anymore bc theres more than enough content out there now

Depending on the PS3 (80 gig), it has backwards compatibility and can play all PS2 games, so that automatically adds hundreds of games -- and dozens of classics -- to your possible games library.

All PS3s can play PS1 games as well.

I'd opt for the PS3 personally as it seems to be a better deal when you factor in what it offers and all the add-ons you have to get for the 360 for an even comparable value.

Game wise, both have a lot of great games.

360 has:
Halo 3
Gears of War
Mass Effect
Gears of War 2
Dead Rising
Project Gotham Racing
Forza 2
etc.

PS3 has:
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Resistance: Fall of Man
Warhawk
Metal Gear Solid 4
Resistance 2
Little Big Planet
Home
Killzone 2 (which by most accounts plays as well as it looks)
Gran Turismo
God of War 3
Motorstorm
etc.

I know I'm probably missing some, these lists were made off of the top of my head.

Even though RRoD is not as big as it was before, 10%+ chances of your system breaking down is still ridiculously high. PS3 is < 1%. If you want reliability and not having your games scratched up and destroyed by your console, PS3 is the most likely best choice.

I've had my PS3 for a little over a month, and haven't regretted it yet. Anticipating Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 is a blast.

Agreed Havok, some ppl seem stuck in a time warp from last year when it was true heh. The PS3 has a nice line up of games, plus still in store PS2 games, older PS1 games, and a good list of Playstation Store games like Pixel Junk Monsters and Super Stardust HD.

Btw since you mentioned Warhawk (which is a great game IMO), that's a good time to mention Home for the OP. Home probably won't be out til later this year, or early next. Take Warhawk, you will be able to take friends in a 3D room and talk strategy with a 3D mock map of the map you're about ready to play. On that map you can move mini army men around on it for visual reference. Home will also give places to hang out and meet ppl for your friends list like a movie theatre.

So Home will be another nice little free service the PS3 should be offering soon if it isn't bumped back...again. Also just read an article saying in game XMB in June, and PS3 is adding trophies (guess they will be like the 360's achievements).

Putting this seperate as I'm not sure how true it is, but when looking up more about the June XMB and Trophy update I saw something interesting, but take it with a grain of salt. This article said that the PS3 will integrate in game XMB with Youtube, so you can capture and upload video footage on Youtube while in game, or save it to your PS3 harddrive. If true, this is awesome, goodbye video capture cards .

I just seem to get more and more excited about the PS3 (especially today what with the 9.9).

It's similar to a feature the 360 already has I believe, you press the round Playstation button and it will bring up your pics, music, friends list, settings, and network list I believe. That will allow you to finally be able to listen to your saved music on your harddrive, or contract a friend mid game.

Agreed. IMO both are great choices, but everyone enjoys diff things, hope you enjoy what you chose OP.

And I agree Home's been pushed back A LOT. However there is a confirmed open Beta soon, so it might not be too far off. However trophies are supposed to come out with the in game xmb.

All 3 consoles are built well for people of different tastes. Just choose which one suits you best and enjoy it. All this hate in the gamer community is downright pathetic.

Yea, iv always thought loyalty to one company, especially an electronics company is an extremely stupid thing to hold on to. Last generation i had all 3 major systems and i plan on doing it this generation(although i highly doubt ill actually pick up a Wii). At the same time tho, i can see why some so vehemently defend their console of choice. Its more of a pride thing. They want their system of choice to be the best so they come out looking like they knew what the hell they were doing in picking said system.

Console manufacter company loyalty is a stupid thing, because, at the end of the day, it´s all about the games.
Now, anyone will have their preferencies, but that doesn´t make be blind of the other one.

Me personaly prefer the 360, not becuase i´m a fan of Microsof, but because i´m not a big fan of Sony, but that doesn´t make me hate the PS3, because i don´t, in fact, i want one.
Like i said, it´s all about the games.

Honestly I don't see the point either. I own a PS3, but someone talking about how good the 360 is doesn't suddenly make me stop enjoying a PS3. As long as that person enjoys their console and I enjoy mine I see no problem. In fact most generations I buy multiple consoles, had a SNES and Genesis, had a PS1 and N64, had a PS2 and Gamecube. So other thank Havok mentioning pride, I really don't see a point to trashing on someone elses system. It's almost like some fanboys are unpaid marketers for that company, like they get something out of hyping it up.

However I will say that it's not always fanboyism to defend a product either. Like let's say someone says the Wii is the largest piece of crap ever, that all the games suck and so on. A Wii owner sticking up for their console in that situation IMO is more about correcting inaccuracies, and making sure someone like the OP of this thread isn't fed the wrong info. However ya, compared to most boards the Hype is pretty tame in terms of fanboyism, and are respectful.

We dont know. The full details off the rumored next update arent revealed. Supposedly it will have in game XMB support but to what extent is anyone's guess

360, as you already know it has more better exclusive games than PS3. The only reason I'd want a PS3 is MGS4 & Little Big Planet (or whatever it's called) & it saddens me since the PS2 was so awesome.

-Metal Gear Solid 4 (is currently rated higher than any 360 exclusive and it's less than 2 weeks away so I'll count it)
-Warhawk

Note: 360 has been out a year longer.

-Banjo Kazooie (loved the first 2, if this can live up to it then great)

The whole "PlayStation 3 needs good games" argument is long dead. It has been for a long time as well. PS3's launch titles were FAR superior to the 360s, and thus far, given the time the 360 has been out and the time the PS3 has been out, the PS3 actually has more great games than the 360 did at this time.

Now, the 360 is a great system, no doubt. I'm simply trying to refute the "PS3 has no games" argument.
