This was before Cavill got muscle.

This is amazing. Thanks to the beautiful lighting, they even made this suit look awesome. Helps that Henry is Superman personified.

chris reeve and henry cavill are the only ones who do not look ridiculous in that 1978 suit. lol.

that is why they are both superman for me.

It's nuts that he was that lean once.

Would like to see how that suit would look on him now

Like Superman actually stepped out of a comic book

Hey do you like the Avengers Cap costume more than the Winter Soldier one? Just curious.

No

I don’t think that’s a fair comparison either, I enjoy the classics but that was not a well executed effort on their part with all the weird looking zippers and the helmet. The suit he used when fighting red skull is my favorite

Fair enough.

The one he used while fighting red skull had muted colors, and the one in avengers had more of a classic feel resembling his ww2 propaganda suit. So I thought you might appreciate the classic more comicbooky suit more.

My personal fav is the AOU suit(no not the WS one), and I know that might be a unpopular choice :oldrazz:

Isn't the AoU just a modernized WW2 suit? Personally I was hoping to see some iteration his comic suit with the scales. I've always liked those.

Lord... That Avengers 1 suit... What were they thinking?

What lighting? It’s half in shadow. This should have been the first warning to WB they picked the wrong guy to direct.

Its called dramatic lighting.

Agree to disagree. Where’s the hope. The optimism. It’s not the Superman I would have chosen for a major reboot since Superman Returns treaded similar territory but that ship has sailed.

Snyder's Superman being like Superman Returns?

Also got inspired by samsnee's post wanted to share all these "fun hopeful and optimistic" stills from JL :

also love it went from "what lighting?" to "where's the hope and optimism" :funny:

No lighting. Light symbolizes hope and optimism. You can’t be this dense.

And you use stills from JL when the shot being criticized was for how Snyder sold his vision for Man of Steel. The tone of JL was a reaction to the darkness of MoS and BvS.

I agree with him completely, Routh's and cavill's supermen were very much alike IMO. Both emo, both mopey and both were allergic to dialogue. The big difference between them was that Cavill's superman was a nihilist (with a cool suit) while Routh's superman was an attempted home wrecker (with a fugly suit).
At the end of the day both supermen failed miserably to connect with the general audience.

The first image (s****y CGI notwithstanding) was from a scene that was better and more superman than anything Snyder managed to put into his previous 6 hrs of s****y films IMO.
The 2nd and 3rd images were reshoots from Snyder scenes, which means their foundation was probably rotten to begin with.

That first scene was forced and hokey as hell. It felt like a video game cut scene, how the obviously ADR'd kids were talking to him. A very transparent attempt to "fix" Superman without putting any care into it.

That's what Superchan wants. Empty platitudes about hope and a smile imprinted on his face at all times. A cheerful and good-natured hero archetype. Nuance be damned.
