Someone quoted you. I couldn't believe you were cheering on rape, so I said something. Back to ignoring you now...

I've reported this post, thing it's quite disgusting that you're accusing me of cheering on rape.

I guess people missed the part where I said black hearted son of a *****. That said rape isn't cool. But in this instance I don't consider it rape. If an amnesiac has consenual sex with someone and then suddenly remembers who they were it wouldn't count as rape. It's the same in this instance. Yes, it's exploitative and ethically unsound, but it isn't rape. Darkseid didn't want Superman as an unthinking pawn, but as a Lieutenant and a true believer of his cause. When Supes was about to get it on with Lashina and the Furies as far as he was concerned he was being rewarded for bringing civilization to a backwater planet on behalf of Darkseid.

I mean, also keep in mind is in big part a cultural thing; I come from an extremely "macho" country where the idea of a man being raped by women would be ludicrous; now, I'm not defending that in any way, I'm just saying that sometimes "the farm comes out" without any ill intention, you see what I'm saying??

Superman's amnesia was brainwashing. If one is brainwashed, then one cannot give consent. It's no different than having sex with someone who has been impaired by drugs or alcohol.

A joke took on the wrong turn...we should probably drop it now...

Anyway shall we move on before the thread is locked? As usual something's gotten more serious than it needed to cause of the fun police

I stand by my joke tho, I can see Tatum's *****ey Superman saying those lines... :o

Ok, that last part has a tinge of thought crime scariness to it... just saying. It's completely unrealistic, especially in most Western societies where inebriation is encouraged.

If two people are drunk and have sex... did they rape each other?

Anyways I'm done.

As you should, we should be able to have a laugh around here without someone bringing it all down by going uber serious. Life is way too serious and jokes are made of controversial things at times.

I'm a firm believer that comedy should make fun of EVERYTHING; nothing should be off limits. I do understand that there are many sensitive subjects and people in some countries are a lot more sensitive to those than others, but...I guess...is a problem without solution...didn't George Carlin have something to say on the matter??

In this analogy, Superman is the only one who is incapacitated, so whoever has sex with him knowing he's not himself would be committing rape.

Nah, I don't buy it. It's morally disgusting, but it isn't rape. Superman was acting of his own volition. He didn't know he was for a few months, but he wasn't an automaton or possessed.

I don't mind having fun, but consent and acknowledging that men can be victims of sexual assault is such an important issue that I think jokes about it have to be quite clever and incisive to avoid being too dismissive.

I agree, I also believe humour takes away the power of bad or evil things. I have thick skin find most things funny and as I say life it too serious. People who complain are a part of the problem if you ask me.

If one does not know oneself because one's agency has been compromised by someone else and that same someone knowingly engages one in sexual acts, then that is still rape.

Can we move on now? Going round in circles here and it's derailing the thread.

Again you're using wording to change what happened. Darkseid made Superman into his champion. He said go beat up those guys for me. He did so willingly. After he beat up those guys Darkseid congratulates him and offers him the company of three women. He could have said nah, I'm good, which he basically does, and it would have ended in the same result either way.

That isn't rape.

 Oh yeah you're right

Now let's move on....

Of course it is an important topic; if I see a piece about it on the news I wouldn't make fun of the victims, but if I go to a comedy show and they make a joke about it...well, it is a comedy show, I know what the intent is; I think since those posts were obviously made in a humorous way we shouldn't take'em so seriously, tho I understand how not everyone might see it the same way...

Yeah man, personally I try to not take ANYTHING that seriously (sometimes I fail miserably, tho), like you say, life's too short...

But honest guys, can we just drop this?! Hey! Looky there....

Yet another very Cav-El'esque variant cover from Clay Mann. I think this one's my favourite so far:

Yeap, Superman III is the first thing that came to mind, that and the fact that Clark there is TOTALLY Cavill.
