BvS Henry Cavill IS Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 24

Spidey babe....just think about how handsome Cavill was cooking eggs shirtless. That's my sweet dream tonight.

I went in fully expecting to be as disappointed with Snyder's portrayal of Superman/Clark as I was with MoS...but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that Superman/Clark was the heart and soul of this film.

Bruce and Diana had become disillusioned and detached from the world/humanity for their own reasons, but witnessing S/C's love for Martha and Lois, and for humanity, changed and inspired them. As Martha said he doesn't owe this world a thing, but he gave his life to save it, even when people were baying for his blood. That's Superman.

Even so...I too would like to see some more levity, more confidence - I have no idea why Snyder wouldn't give us a 'shirt-ripping to show the S' scene, or saving a cat out of a tree rather than
hauling a ship somewhere with no apparent purpose

Clark tugs at his tie indicating the former, and Bruce makes a joke about the latter. Why so afraid to add these little things that both fans and casual audiences alike would recognise and appreciate? I really don't get that.

I said this in MAN OF STEEL...this "distance" is very much intentional. Lois is his lifeline, his mother, and to a smaller extent, Perry. And that does come through.

Cavill really does excel at exhuding warmth without even any dialogue. His greeting of Lois, the Day of the Dead sequence, the quiet smile when he saves that girl as he returns her to her family, and the moments at the end with Lois...just...perfect stuff.

And that. Is. Superman.

It'd just be nice to have a bit more of that.

But I get where they're coming from. He's still unsure of his place in the world, how to relate to those who see him as a God, etc. Even in the court he was having some issues.

Unfortunately the bad reviews r mostly because of the Interpretation of superman.

Superman could have have used the screen time and development in a film where he's already being minimized. With all the time he's been active, staying silent has only made matters worse for him. Sulking about it with Lois and Martha has done him zero favors. Contextually and creatively, it was a missed opportunity.

Because he is blaming himself. Don't u see? He thought a normal people could hate him this much till... he thought he is responsible.
Man doesn't like to explain Btw.

I actually gasped! My thirst for him has waxed and waned over the years (Series 1 of 'The Tudors' maximum, last year's Beard of Horror minimum) but bathtub-jumping, egg-cooking Clark was up there at 'Margaret watches him undress on the ship to Portugal, please fetch me a gallon of Charles Brandon' level :cwink:

Yes! Totally agree. And
his corpse was even beautiful

I was worried about Superman in this beforehand, but I absolutely loved the representation of his story arc and I think Henry gave the best performance in the entire flick.

He showed every heartbeat of Superman's character. As a worried fan, I couldn't be more pleasantly surprised by Henry and Superman's portrayal. Absolutely loved it.

Yes

But I wish they didn't had showed us so many minutes of Batman tossing him around like a rag doll. :whatever:

[BLACKOUT]Didn't bother me! I knew Supes was going to get his A kicked, but I really did think it was fairly executed by Snyder and so well done! Even with Kryptonite exposure, Supes got some really nice hits in. Both were represented nicely. Overall, Henry out acted Batfleck and both were SUPERB.[/BLACKOUT]

So for those that saw it, how do you guys still feel about Superman's place within the DCEU? Do you guys feel just as, if not more confident, that Superman's importance to the DCEU and to the JL is in tact and secured?

With Batman in the picture, I'm not confident Snyder can contain his bias. The fact Bruce is now the leading JL founder is going to lead to decisions which I fear will push Supes even more to the sidelines.

I need to see more from Henry and thats not necessarily his fault, he needs to be given the material to work with.

With exception to the end of the movie, he sort of felt like an afterthought the whole time. It was at least 60/40 in favor screen time of Batman in this movie, at least thats what it felt like.

Henry was definitely the heart of the film.

You really got a glimpse of how conflicted Supes was, even though Cavil didn't have that many lines.

Interesting. I felt it was the opposite. No way 'jose that Supes could of been an afterthought in this. His arc carried the entire movie. Bats felt along for the ride IMO, but that's not to say he wasn't great. In fact, Ben's Batman showed much more...love... than I would of ever thought.

I think I really love everybodies performance, but Henry's stuck out the most. He carried it without much of the flavor that Batman worked with. IMO, Henry out-acted Ben and Ben was great.

So many cool instances I can pick anywhere in the movie. Now I'm thinking of Alfred's scenes. Too cool.

Glad you liked it!

There are only two things that I ask for Henry's Superman in JL. I don't want him to be controlled by a villain in JL and I don't want him to become Batman's subordinate.
