I hope that the poor reception to this film doesn't hurt Cavill, career-wise. I want to see him in more stuff, Superman-related or otherwise. The guy is a great actor.

I've been rolling my eyes at the folks immediately jumping on the "Fire Snyder" train without even seeing the movie themselves, but if a different director could give Cavill material that gets the audience to really sit up and take notice of Cavill, in a way that BVS apparently hasn't, then I think that might be the way to go. More classic Superman that let's Cavill's charm shine through.

What's to say that's not Snyder's plan for JL?

I think it very likely is, Cavill in interviews keeps talking about how this Superman isn't the fully realised version yet. I think to many people want that version of Superman whose already there, this version didn't spend 12 years in the Fortress of Solitude and came out having it all figured out.

Terrio said JL will be a lot lighter in tone. Cavill said in Man of Steel and BvS he's still finding his place and role in the world and people will see the Superman everyone loves in JL.

I hope we do see that transformation in JL. It really won't be hard for him. He could play it like Henry with an american accent. Watching Henry answer the question of the critics panning BvS with Ben staying quiet & agreeing, Henry was so superman.

Henry Cavill arrives at the #BatmanvSuperman European Premiere in London!

I can see it in his face.
"I got cast as Superman, I did one solo Superman movie and then a Batman movie that had Superman in it. Then my character died. Comical, eh?"

Maybe another addition to Superman curse. I hope not for both Cavill and Superman role.

There is no Superman curse and Cavill will be fine.

I mean....really? It's 2016 & people still believe in there being a "Superman" curse?

maybe there is a superman curse... :(

^ There isn't.

But I do think the perception of superman being borderline godly trips up writers. They don't know what to actually have this guy say.

I don't know how I feel about the movie exactly as I'm still processing it but what I do know is that I was disappointed in the handling of Superman.

And even I, a defender, want DC to lighten the **** up a little.

I gave Snyder two chances.

My verdict: I just cannot get behind this take on Superman. I flat-out don't like him as a character.

If Cavill has any talent at all, they are wasting him with this ****.

I've no doubt Supes is going to take the bigger hit as far as dividing fans with the characterization. More than ever this Superman feels more disconnected with humanity, and I get the feeling Snyder isn't interested in the interpretation in which Superman sees himself along with the common man.

I think Cavill could be a great Superman if he gets the material to be.

I think Clark/Superman is a lot more stoic/subtle than people would like. Cavill's doing a very nice job and gave a nice, subtle performance, especially in regard to body language with the character, but it would definitely be nice to see some more charisma from the character in the future. When he smiles, he SMILES, and it works so well.

I was fine with him being what he was in Man of Steel but for Christ sake lighten the character up now.

I remember sticking with him as a fan cast as early as the mid-2000s precisely because of the good-natured vibe and charm he oozes. This interpretation has done him no favors at all. 2 films in, and I don't think he's done much more acting than Brandon Routh did.

I feel like I was okay with MOS starting him out that way but I think it was a huge mistake to keep him that way past one film. Cavill is Clark Kent/Superman in real life and the director doesn't see that. It's baffling.

Let the ****ing man do more than grimace Snyder. Holy ****, I'm starting to get angry.

Cavill is just so charismatic. Has anyone here seen The Man From UNCLE? He was so awesome in that.

Why is it so hard for BvS to give him the same material to work with? He's leading man material.
