I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I hate crying at movies because it feels embarrassing to me for some reason, so I tried not to. But a tear slipped out during that end sequence. That Lois moment, damn. So subtle and effective.
That's fair enough, but they needed to balance this kind of stuff with some happiness and wins for superman.
That was another point I believe...it was hard for him to be happy facing so much flak from all angles. It makes sense because I think in a real world scenario he'd face a similar reaction as he did in MoS/BvS & it's hard to be 100% happy when you're stressed to that great an extent.
But by going through all of this, I'm hopeful that it does open up the door to allow for a more happy & emotionally balanced Superman from this point on. He had a trial to go through, so to speak.
Now that's he's through it, it's time to show his greatest strength: his character.
^ Yep. Amy and Henry sold it. There chemistry as Clark and Lois is what made that ending work for me. Which brings me to my thoughts on the controversial ending.
To be honest, I think it was too early in superman's characterization for that story line. We hadn't seen him come into his own enough to understand what he meant to the world. We were told, more than shown (with the exception of that montage of rescues) that he was a great man.
Luckily, the Clois parts compensated for this, in a way. They established a sweet relationship that I wanted to see more of. When Clark died and Bruce/Diana were carrying his body, I didn't think "Oh no, the world doesn't have superman anymore" because they hadn't shown me enough interactions between supes and the people to establish that yet. But I did think "Oh no, poor Lois!" because they were so sweet together. I felt her pain and it's making me a little teary even now.
I agree with everything in the spoiler tag, and would like to add
that I think it's also a bit early to do that storyline because of the floating dirt and we know that Henry is coming back for JL. I'm conflicted - it was beautifully acted and like you I'm still thinking 'Oh Lois!' and getting teary - it takes away the power of his death a little bit. I'm am nervous about what happens after JL
though - I've previously mentioned being fearful of an 'Injustice' scenario and what it could mean for Henry and Amy's future in the films. Aghhh I'm overthinking this! I'm just going to think happy thoughts of bathtubs and egg-cooking and not worry about it too much!
People weren't kidding when they told me that I would definitely love on how Superman was used and shown in this film.
I definitely loved on how relationship between him and Lois was shown and portrayed in this film. It took us over 6 films (S:TM, SII, SIII, SIV, SR, MOS) but we finally got a film where their relationship was portrayed at its best.
If anything though, I'm only concerned on what fate lies for Superman post BvS. It could really go either way right now.
I fear that Superman could still end up being controlled by Darkseid and damage whatever development he made with his sacrifice.
I'm also afraid that they'll go down the Injustice route and kill Lois
Frankly, Zack is one weird ass director. He presents things that a lot of people can enjoy but he's also the living example of making a deal with the devil. For every good thing he gives, he craps on you with something else.
My lord, that would be a complete travesty, we can't deny the fact that Synder has thought about this. He's the type to cause controversy with decisions like that. That will be the final nail in the coffin as far as im concerned

If they go injustice routine, they can bring more faithful version of the characters...If the movie hated by majority that would be nice way to recovery like DOFP did it with X3 mess

Yea, I loved Superman in BvS too and Cavill was just great. He and Ben were born for their roles. (And Jesse too, yea, I've just said that, I think he was phenomenal Lex. )
I really enjoyed Superman's restraint in the movie. This is one particular element of the character that they nailed quite well.
Any other hero would have destroyed Batman, killed Lex for showing him photos of his tortured Mother, and would have let Lex die by the creature he created. But not Superman. I know we can ***** and moan that Batman won the fight. However, it's Superman's restraint and his want to plead to Batman to team up and go after Lex, but Batman isn't having any of it, that really makes Superman shine. This is Superman's first exposure to Kryptonite as well. Yet, he took it. Yeah, he fought back so he wouldn't just straight up die, but he never used brutal force against Batman. He played Batman's game.
Here's what I have to say to those that didn't like Superman in Batman v Superman. During the event of MOS he was Superman for a Day. In BvS he was Superman for two years. During this time he struggle to be Superman as what ever he did it was never goo enough. You do a good thing and other bash you on the little things. The death that happen in the capital took its toll on Superman an cause him to doubt himself. He was conflicted on who he was and if his dad was right that the world wasn't ready for him. He left and did some soul searching only to discover what his father had teach him and to not give up on the world but to protect those he loves and the world they live in. By the time the movie ended superman excepted who he is "this is my world" and made the ultimate decision to save the world. If you didn't get this theme it means you haters were too busy bashing and nitpicking the movie to enjoy it. There's still Batman side that wasn't even discussed yet. Cavill was amazing in this movie and far from being the issue of the film.
Cavill understand Superman it's more Zack who doesn't know how to showcase the best of Superman And Batman. He hit some and miss some. Reason for all the mix from some people.

Yea. I thought Supes' character was written exceptionally well in BvS, all the sloppy mistakes he's done, all the rescuing of people, doubt and decision making, really good stuff!

I find it funny herolee is so somber & warning people of Superman in BvS when HE HASN'T EVEN SEEN THE DAMN MOVIE! Which means he's going entirely off of the word of others & not his own. Weak sauce, bro, weak damn sauce.
Anyway, Cavill was great in this & BvS reaffirms that he's perfect for Superman. I didn't find Superman depressing in this & I don't feel like he "didn't have enough to do" either because he was given plenty to do.
Just join me in the art of letting go. It's the only way to find fan peace.
Accept that this is the direction they have taken. You can either decide this version isn't for you and stop watching. Or you can decide to just enjoy it for what it is - an elseworlds tale where Superman is not the one we all know and love, but is recognisable as a version of Superman that is changed by different experiences and situations in this universe.
