Spoilers, people.

Uh, we don't know the reason why
Clark was said to be missing, so lets not pretend it's impossible to bring him back.

Could we use our imagination a bit before we doomsay?

I'm sorry, I checked, everything I said was already said a couples times fairly openly.
But you're wrong, I paid attention to the paper it said killed, and I couldve sworn he was in the casket when she placed the picture inside. I will confirm both later tonight.

Anyone who wants to debate with me whether or not this is Superman as he should be. From now on rather than listening to feeble excuses I'll simple refer you back to the man himself Henry Cavill - "This is not the Superman we all know and love", in fact I might make it my signature.

Snap!

It said killed. And yes he's in the casket. You see his arms. Otherwise, the final shot doesn't make sense.

Not the Superman we know and love yet... I know a lot of folks, particularly the ladies and guys who're into that sort of thing, like the Clois angle of Superman, but I want to see more of Clark Kent, mild mannered reporter, "fighting the good fight". One thing Snyder's films made me appreciate was this side of Superman. It's only been teased. I think that the blue collar guy from Kansas fighting injustice with the almighty pen is something that could have only improved BvS and I definitely want to see that in a Man of Steel solo sequel.

I just dont see how they bring Clark Kent, Daily Planet reporter who was confirmed dead in the paper and had an open casket funeral TO COME BACK FROM THE DEAD. Superman can, he's a damn alien, but how does a farm boy from Kansas pull that off, in a grounded and realistic universe? My biggest fear is actually that he has effectively killed off Clark. Admittedly I lack the imagination to be a writer, but I'm coming up empty on how this could be pulled off.

I'm choosing to be optimistic - I got the feeling in MoS that a lot of the people of Smallville actually knew about Clark and kept quiet out of respect for him, Jonathan and Martha. Therefore
as the real funeral was in Smallville, when Clark comes back they'll just shrug and go "OK, so he can do that now as well". As for the rest of the world...body was misidentified (face badly damaged? although it was pretty much confirmed that he is dead, we didn't see his face, only his hands in the casket...I'm clutching at straws here!!!) and real Clark lost his memory and wandered off somewhere? I'll cling on to any possibility because I really REALLY don't want Clark Kent to be gone.

He won't be gone. And you're right about Smallville. Clark Kent was a weird alien kid, but he was "their" weird alien kid.

Poni_Boy in the other thread said that Henry reads these boards. If that is the case, I love your Clark Henry. Never change. Also, I would like to apologize for I SEE SPIDEY. :woot:

Henry Cavill must be crushed after reading these boards... then probably looks at the mirror and feel good again.

Cavill is great, I hope one day he gets to play a proper Superman, he deserves it.

I always looked at it that smallville was a very closed off community, they all knew Clark was different with all the miracles he pulled off.

In the comics we see him being trampled on by animals etc, so we can assumed off screen they have seen more - plus being a religious community, makes sense that they would want to protect him.

Superman appears and they put two and two together - Lana and co obviously know. We just haven't been introduced to it in this universe.

Metropolis and DP staff were not in smallvile
funeral

Therefor to them, Clark could have just been
presumed dead
This thing happens a lot, esp after terrible events. All he has to do is were a cast for a while and a crutch and all is forgiven. Couple weeks later,
superman can return

If Cavill reads these boards he has by now realized that he is definitely not the issue, he makes women go crazy and men question their sexuality.

I honestly would love to be his pal...

If you are reading Henry let me give you a rare non creepy compliment. I think you are a great Superman and I look forward to seeing you play the character for years to come. It's cool to have one of us in the role. Carry on.

If Henry's reading, I would just like to say this: You made me crazy about Superman. I never thought that would happen. After years of being a HUGE Batman fan, you and your wonderful portrayal of Clark Kent made me a true fan of the Man of Steel. Thank you.

wow. i definitely like the idea "when clark woke up / resurrected, he has lost his memory".
wow. and lois is the key!!! wow... wow... so hype!!!

I love that idea and infact that kind of makes sense with some of Zack's comments

You know, amnesia might be a route they take...I'm okay with that as long as it's short and doesn't result in evil Supes.

Henry Cavill was great! He was Superman in the movie to me. If my son can walk into the theater conflicted on whether he loves or hates Superman and walks away saying he loves him, then Henry did something right. There are specific moments of the film that are stuck in my son's head. And when I overhear him humming the notes to that Superman piano theme, it only reminds me of my youth growing up and loving Superman humming that old classic tune to myself

Can't he be a little evil? Like steal some food and some clothes :woot:

Like, if I still had hope that we might get a good Superman film after this, i'd probably be more upset [BLACKOUT]they'd killed off Clark[/BLACKOUT]... but as it is, I don't. And i'm just glad I was able to enjoy the film as much as I did, by viewing it as an elseworlds tale.

Was just thinking... I guess they could use time travel or something? Like a DOFP style retcon that undoes killing off Clark?

I'd take it, no matter how stupid :funny:

With Henry saying watch this space regarding a appearance in Wonder Woman. Does anyone think that maybe she wil see Superman in a dream/vision and be the one to realise he's isn't dead? Maybe she'll go to his grave and it will be empty.

Humm..Flash rewinding time could work. That actually makes sense with the "looking to bring Clark back" stuff. I'm mean, seriously, how could you look to bring back a dead person other than time travel? Plus, Flash's vision showed him breaking through time, so it could happen.
