Henry Cavill IS Superman: The Official Thread

Exactly. If Clark Kent isn't a nerd then he isn't Clark Kent.

Honestly I would probably use Eisenberg and Garfield's portrayals as a template, only not as condescending.

I know most people are stoked to see what HC will look like in the suit, but I am actually far more interested in the first picture being of him as Clark. Not sure why, but I do think I want them to dribble out the info, slowly and painfully. I really want to see what his CK looks like, maybe like the Cain and Hatcher pick of her holding the newpaper with a Superman headline, and him in the background, kind of taking his glassed of for only us to see.

Same here, I loved Routh's Clark (the piercing stare when Richard kisses Lois in front of him is fantastic, as if he's trying to burn a hole through his rival's head!) and hope Cavill's will be even better and a more modern version. You know, no business suits that were in fashion 30 years ago, not an old-fashioned hairstyle but messier hair when he's Clark and more polished when he's Superman, etc. The first official pics of Routh as Clark were very nice IMO. People complained about his Superman way, way more.

The thing about Cavill that sticks out to me that he has such a stunningly piercing look to him. His eyes and the overall facial structure that goes alone with his features sure does burn a hole through your chest, in a GREAT way when thinking of him for the Superman role.

He can see right into your soul. It's an important aspect. The same eyes that make villains crawl at his feet in fear, also make women swoon/giggle and look away. Fantastic.

There's no other way to say this: We've got a panty-peeler for Superman. Life continues to be awesome. :woot:

I'm dying of happiness right now. Thank You.

You are being a good sport and taking it well. Something I've noticed. There seems to be a lot of older posters returning to this board and the feedback is mostly positive. It's like the forum is alive again.

Thanks. To me it looks like this casting will bring the boards together for the first time in awhile, which will allow. C. Lee to take breather and he'll have a more interested me back to help.

 Classy... Regardless of what you guys said you guys still have my respect and Support

I'm so happy my choice and the other Cavillites have gotten our wish :awesome:

Appreciate it. Enjoy the fun.

Show,

I know this is technically a dead issue now, but having not been following on a daily or even weekly basis the past few months, what were the reasons that were told to you in regards to Cavill not being cast? I did a search, but there are just too many posts to go through. Thank you.

Whatever they were at the time, they are wrong now. Isn't about that. This is about the fans that supported him celebrating him being cast and all of us embracing Cavill as Superman. There is no need for casting wars anymore, which is great. The role has been cast.

You can PM me if you want me to elaborate.

I don't know....I mean at the moment Henry comes off as someone I would imagine playing "Cosmic boy" or even "Superboy/Conner Kent" than Superman himself....I mean....he looks like that he could fit the role if the story was somewhat of a early days in Superman Career type of story or even a origin one.

showtime, when will we be getting an official release date??

Yup, panty-peeler. :woot: Seriouly, everyone should watch The Tudors now if you want to see more of THAT and his acting in general. It's his best work IMO. I imagine Youtube clips of Cavill in general are getting a surge in views all of a sudden!

LOL at "then we get old and get diabetes". Hahaha!

He is such a charismatic man. Just look at that face and those eyes! I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Well, he's perfect for this film then, isn't he? Since it's going to be an early days type story...apparently.

Thats the kind of story you will get.

Its a reboot.

It's good to know Superman doesn't need viagra.

S:TAS didn't go that route and it that show was nearly flawless.

It doesn't mean it's not possible, but I think it's more obvious that the Clark is Superman with that 'straight-man' portrayal, especially in a movie. You can get away with stuff in comics and cartoons that you can't get away with in live action.

Hahaha, I love it how he listens to her patiently, waiting for the right moment for her to shut up and then just goes for it.

"I have heard of it, yeah." THAT VOICE. :woot:

I'm still excited about this casting, after all these hours.

I've not posted this frequently on here since TDK's Pre-production. :wow:

On the contrary, STAS employed the mild-mannered (straight from the source) behavior in a modern context that ensured CK would be inconspicuous in a crowd. I never understood the bumbling and accident prone interpretation. It may be the complete opposite of Superman but it's so abnormal it inevitably stands out. That's the last thing you would want.

I don't mind a nerdy Clark. However it should be appropriate to his surroundings so he's easily blended in with the common folk.

Perhaps we'll get a kind of Superman Begins with flashbacks and the movie opening with Superman fighting an adversary as strong as he. Suddenly it looks like Supes, bleeding and battered is about to meet his demise.....cue the flashbacks of how he came to be WHO he IS and WHY he risks everything, His happiness, his life for humanity.

I'm not saying he should be like Jack Tripper, but he needs to act very much not like Superman, if he's all serious and straight to business, thats Superman's schtick. Clark needs to as different to that as possible.

Now I really want a younger looking lex, I wanted hardy but since that ship has sailed I'm not sure who I want,
but the cavill news caught me completely off guard. I can't wait to see how well he does as the man of steel...

back during "who is Superman" during Bryan Singer days, somebody made an awesome trailer of Cavill as Superman. I can't find it on youtube anymore.

*sigh*

Excel, we all know this film is getting a mid-December 2012 release. Which is either December 14 or December 21st. Hopefully 12/21, since WB had luck with the same weekend before with Sherlock Holmes and that date will be almost exactly 5 months after TDKR hits theaters.

Plus, the Christmas date allows it to get a steady stream of business for the next two weeks.

Agreed. Why not make Clark more assertive and commanding? You know, mild mannered.
