Here We Go Again Part 3: New Welling As Superman Rumors?

i seriously still doubt the whole cgi suit/cgi enhancement rumor is true. It just seems utter BS. Hopefully someone wb/nolan/snyder will comment on it and knock it down.

HAHA look at this silly rumor i was just reading:
http://surfme.wordpress.com/2010/11...he-chance-to-play-superman-cause-of-leonardo/
Zac turned down the chance to play Superman, cause of Leonardo- ZAC Efron apparently turned down the chance to play Superman after getting advice from his Hollywood pal Leonardo DiCaprio. The High School Musical star was in line for a new movie version of the Man of Steel until the Titanic actor stepped in.

“Zac feels he’s very much following in the footsteps of Leo and respects his opinion,” a source said. “He didn’t turn Superman down because of him but Leo was unsure whether it would be the best move for him.

“It’s a massive franchise. Zac is now chasing more dramatic roles in independent movies.”

Efron recently revealed he became buddies with his acting idol DiCaprio after he scored with him at a basketball game.

“I met him at a Laker game,” he said. “I’d sat down in seats and I looked down and there was a dude in a baseball hat and I went, ‘Holy s***, that’s Leo!’ I was like, ‘Man, I’m not gonna interrupt you during the game, I know you wanna watch the Lakers. But if there’s any chance that I could just talk to you for a minute, whether we get coffee, anything dude.’
“And he was like, ‘Dude, what are you doing tomorrow? Come over tomorrow — let’s hang out.’
“That’s a little taste of how cool he is. He’s just very down to earth. He’s just an awesome dude. He’s been nice enough to hang out with me a few times.”

The star has previously revealed how the Inception hunk warned him on the dangers of substance abuse.
“It was kind of his way-out-the-door, last-minute advice. He said, ‘Oh, by the way, if you really want to mess this all up, try heroin’,” he said.

“I said, ‘Thanks’, and he said, ‘No, seriously, that’s pretty much the only way you’re going to screw this up, and you shouldn’t go down that road — it will mess you up without fail. Do not do drugs.’
“That was enough for me; that’s all I needed to hear.”

Wouldn't it be funny if Leo just said that so he could get the part? LOL

haha mike but i doubt leo would want to do superman. he is a good actor but all wrong for superman/clark kent. Could maybe see him do a villain role. But cbm just doesnt seem to be the type of film he would actually be in himself.

How would folks feel about ryan mcpartlin from chuck....
Ugh! No, a HUGE no to that Webhead. Very VERY few actors posted over yonder have much there, there.

I admit I will be painfully hard to please in terms of the casting, but the CGI talk isn't ruffling my feathers like it seems to be doing with other fans. I saw what could be done in films like Avatar. Granted, I found Avatar's story to be derivative and a yawnfest, but the visuals were stunning, so I'm not worried about that aspect at all. Like Avatar however, casting and story will make or break the film for me.

well i was just bring a name in again to see what folks thought, i have no issues with him myself. still if he has the chance i do hope he can do a test. But who knows who we are ultimately going to get. Its more likely going to be someone we didnt expect or someone we dont really know. As for the cgi superman i still think it would be a total waste to make him and/or the suit cgi. Not really needed. Plus like i said back a page if they want to do that then do a cgi film and dont bother with real actors lol. But the cgi thing is likely still bs but who knows, we hardly have anything real to go by right now.

I hate the idea of Matthew Goode and the CGI - depending on how much CGI they are talking about. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hatin' on the guy because personally, I find him fairly attractive (yes, I just looked up his images), and he could easily pull off a mild-mannered, slightly wimpy looking Clark Kent in glasses. But... he's a really naturally lean guy. They would absolutely have to CGI a large percentage of Superman body - and that's just more CGI than I want to see.

I like CGI as much as the next sci-fi/fantasy fan... but there's something a bit more "real" that I want from a Superman movie, as silly as that sounds considering the subject matter. :D

I just don't want it to feel like it's animated. Heavy CGI is pretty, but I think Superman himself needs that element of actual humanity to capture the heart of the character. Maybe I'm just too old school about it.

GFG, there are better options out there.

I agree with youdont have any hate on goode but don't see him as supes. But I doubt he or the cgi suit/enhancements is true. The site rumor came from originally didn't seem to be that reliable. But hey I said this back a page we are bound to see many crazy rumors to we get closer to production.

I could see him in some comic book film. Maybe not Superman but something else. Don't know what though.

Yea could see him doing one of those graphic novel type of stories or a film not with super powers. I can't think of any characters off the top of my head.

Well was just surfing some sites, the geek files a uk site claims of another possible contender for clark/superman. Some former model turned actor named anderson davis. I don't know anything about the guy or how true the news is. But hey its another name to talk about.

He has a good look about him i think. dont know what height he is though

Yea I believe he hasn't done to much acting yet. He could be good he could be bad. Has ok look add maybe 20pounds of muscle and would look better. I don't have much else to say about him. Though probably would still go with someone else. But I just brought name in to add to talk. We are def going to hear a wide range of names wanting to test, testing, or wish they could. I read online he is like 6'1 and around 190lbs.

Im sure we wont have long to wait though until we hear who they chose. Im guessing feb

Feb, to coincide with sweeps, when welling is announced in nolan's film, and the remaining episode of smallville go through the roof in advertising revenue.

My logic is infallable.

Optimistic are we?
It ain't gonna be Welling, as much as I'd want that to happen.

Oh I hope we get name asap. More so if production does get under way in june like its been mentioned. I hope we have who ever it is picked by end of jan by the latest. So it gives said guy at least 5 months to bulk up, other prep work, and get in right shape so costume is designed to fit him and not designed and said guy has to fit into it. I can't wait to see who nolan/snyder pick. I am sure they will pick right.

anderson davis.............personally I know I wont like him as Superman, but based on looks alone, yea he could pull it off I guess, I've never seen his acting so I'll wait for something like that.

Still prefer Tom Welling tho but thats just me lol

how do you know you won't like him as Superman if you've never seen his acting?

At the very least I wish CW would do a 2 hour telemovie for Smallville with a bigger budget with Welling donning the cape.

Well we don't know yet if the finale for smallville will be two hrs or not. Plus being the end I am sure they will be giving a slightly bigger budget then normal episodes since its the end. Plus they do tend to give them more money of premires/finales, and special episodes like losh/jsa and a few others. As for next clark I really hope they get a good pick. As for davis he could be good he could be bad no clue. Though I still rather take hammer or mangianello more over that davis guy. But with snyder and nolan on this. I am sure casting will be well.

I think they will. It's the series finale after all. And so far it doesn't look like any other episode will be getting the "2 part" treatment like Absolute Justice last year.

why are you guys soo dead set against welling? this is why i do not go in the superman casting threads. welling would be the top choice and i will not rule him out until i hear otherwise. funny how neither nolan or snyder hasn't ruled tom out publicly yet. they sure did with routh right away. NONE of the current casting ideas excite me at all.

Wwell as great as welling would be and having the show be ending right before filming would start he could do it. But its been stated countless times they ie nolan/snyder are going in a new fresh direction meaning they have there own story/vision and cast they want to go with. Plus they probably want have a cleqn start on everything so they are not tied to anything and not stuck trying to assoicate film with anything else.

Not casting news. But I was reading an article earlier where hans zimmer announced to ann thompson that he will score both tdkr for nolan and superman for snyder. If its real. I hope zimmer will do some good scores for superman.
