So, you totally agree with me, Webhead, or you want me to totally explain why that would be a bad thing. :)

I kid, I know you mean you agree with me. Because really, I don't think anyone needs to be told how bad being quartered would be. :)
 
David I was agreeing with how we all have different views.
 
I personally don't think that he should play Superman on the big screen. I've been a fan of Smallville for 10 years, and have watched every episode. Although he has had some very good performances... I still feel that there's something not quite there... something lacking. Of course, this could be because he hasn't ever played "Superman" (well apart from briefly in "Homecoming").... and has only played a young Clark Kent... but there's a certain quality that Christopher Reeve had, and even Brandon Routh had... that isn't quite there.

Another issue is that if he was to play Superman, and then if you had a different Lois (not Erica Durance), a different Lex (not Michael Rosenbaum)... a different Martha Kent (not Annette O'toole).. it'd just feel weird (IMO). Whereas if you did get all actors to fulfill those roles, you'd just have a Smallville/Superman TV Movie.

I think a clean slate is the best way to go. Hopefully a relatively unknown, although I wouldn't mind Brandon Routh again. I think he did a good job, considering the awful script

Your statement holds no weight considering the fact that you are probably still pissed that he sent you back to the Phantom Zone after you possessed Lex's body... LOL:cwink:
 
It's funny cause.. I feel that Routh didnt have that "it" factor when portraying Superman.. However I feel that Welling screams Superman even when he's just wearing a red jacket and blue t-shirt

personally i thought routh didnt have the charm, skill, or persona reeve had while he was superman. Routh wasnt and to be still is not a good actor at all. Which i am glad he is no longer apart of superman. I too like i been saying for the film series and for wb its the best route to clean slate and start fresh and new. So they can do there own thing and not be forced or stuck into saying its related to this or that like singer's attempt was.
 
I would love to see Welling as Superman on the big screen, but I would also like to see Routh again.....I like'em both!
 
Was just reading the news. Vancouver is a good shooting location and still gets some goood break on taxs. Plus with snyder working there on past films is a logical choice for him to go back. It is a good city with alot to use. Plus heck even if it was shot there who know if plate shots would be of the city or them taking others along with cgi enhancements and make there own look for his metropolis.

Now as for sv fans if it is true/confirmed by snyder/wb on shooting there. It will probably make tom seem a good choice. Which I still would love to see. But I don't think will happen. Since thos will be a fresh new film. So it should have new cast story and all.
 
Man. I Don't want to get my hopes up, but there are now several things pointing at Tom to get the role. The only reason I think he shouldn't get the role is the possibility of mass suicides on the SHH boards by Welling haters.
 
I don't personally want any ties to Smallville for this film, but I do wonder if it makes any sense for the production to buy some of the props and set pieces for budgetary reasons. Also, will they use the same Kent Farm? It will be interesting to see what similarities exist, due to sharing filming locations and whether Snyder uses them as "Easter Eggs," or if he tries to downplay them and purposely looks for alternate locations.
 
Haha yea alot of stuff could point to tom. But really looking at it from nolan/snyder/wb point of view they probably do want or it will be all fresh and new cast and all. Plus also with vancouver no word if it would just be for studio space or studio and city shooting. I do hope we at least get clark/superman selected before feb. So it gives plently of time for bulking up and all other training for pre production.

We can finally just walk into the thread, step over all the dead bodies and just say..."so, how about that Welling?"
 
It would truly be a momentous day indeed when a Welling fan is freely able to go on the Superman board and start the official "Tom Welling is Superman!" thread.

It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
 
Yea that would be so nice. Man all the hate over there. Which is one of the reasons I haven't been to supes board in like 4 months. But I do still think it will end up being a different new cast. I just hope they look good, can act, and good chemistry between all the principal actors.
 
I use to want Welling to get the role and sometimes I still do, but, after watching Smallville's final season I finally started to critique his acting and there are some parts that I cannot believe made it on TV. He either needs a new person directing/cutting/producing or whatever to do retakes or work on his acting. He has the looks, his acting needs to improve drastically.
 
Welling is the kind of actor that if the writing and directing are good, then he can be really good too. Luthor was a great episode that showcased his talent IMO.
 
As long as he's not trying to impersonate Reeve's performance, he should be alright. He has come a long way in his acting ability in the last 9-10 years.
 
I agree. I've seen him put on some great performances. I just hated that damn proposal so much. I couldn't believe that was left the way it was. I think that under the wing of a bad ass director that he really could have a great chance to maximize his potential, with the look he has to be superman, a few months hardcore in the gym, he could be amazing. I'm still doubtful it will happen though. Much bigger chance that Rosey comes back than Welling getting the part lol.
