Back in the day after college I dated a lady 12 years older than me, recently divorced with 2 young kids. Not an ideal situtation, but we both knew it wasn't going to be a long term thing. It was fun and I learned a few things, and I'm not only taking about sex. It was a great experience, we still talk to today. She was even at my wedding.

To answer the question; it's not an age thing, it's a maturity/expectations thing. Simple as that. As long as people are on the same level, mature or immature, and on the same page with expectations, then it should be fine.

What do you think he's getting at with that statement he made to you? Honestly, continually pursuing possibly disastrous sexual relationships to the point that it's detrimental to your overall life is, if not a big red flag over intimacy issues, a possible sign of sexual addiction. Might be worth taking some time to consider what pushes you to find these types of women and get into situations with them that aren't very healthy. Just playing armchair psychologist.
