Oh, trust me, they'll renumber at some point. Even if it's not soon, I really don't see them missing a chance to celebrate those triple digits in some form.

Or quadruple (Action's next milestone):cwink:

And yeah, nothing is confirmed yet...

Also, I heard there are going to be 4 Justice League Titles... ugh:csad:

Okay, the only title I've heard confirmed is the new Justice League with Lee and Johns. Where are you guys reading about JLI, Nightwing, etc.?

Justice League International was confirmed at the end of Justice League: Generation Lost. And there are rumors that there will also be a Justice League Unlimited/Beyond title set in the universe that Batman Beyond and the upcoming Superman Beyond titles are set in.

Bleeding Cool is also reporting that Dick Grayson is going back to the role of Nightwing and will be starring in his own solo series along with Barbara Gordon returning to the role of Batgirl in her own ongoing as well.

Very Positive.

What people seem to be forgetting is that we will be getting an Aquaman ongoing out of this based on the silver age. Outrageous? I think so.

With Geoff Johns, everything is based on the Silver Age.

Thank you, Hip. Somewhere in the back of my mind I was worried that this would be the time my comic book guy would be talking out of his ass...

Still not sure about whether or not there will be any past continuity though...

That's been obvious for years and, while I hate how it's happening, I think DC is doing the best thing here. It sucks for old fans but I think it'll pull in enough new ones and, depending on if they try to get into more stores, put them ahead of Marvel for the first time in years.
If DC makes a deal with Wal-Mart, Target, etc. I'm pretty certain that the retailer will make a simultaneous deal with Marvel on account that Spider-Man and the X-Men are just as big as Batman and Superman.

What's really hurting Marvel is their $3.99 price point, numbering that is just flat out confusing even for hardcore readers, thinking that new readers will go to comic book stores, and stubbornness towards the digital market. They're stuck in the mindset of the 1990's where they sold the highest selling comics of all time and think that 90's like gimmicks like multiple variant covers and bizarre numbering like #-1, #0, #0.1, #1/2, or #1,000,000 that destroyed the industry will restore their publishing efforts.

the thing is, all the good things that people want from DC, and all the good things that are coming out of this announcement can be accomplished without a reboot of the universe.

Motown Marvel: The new Kurosawa.

;)

:(

The characters needed a fresher look for a very long time now. I applaud them for going with a fresher take on the look and really, the designs other than WW are not that radically changed. The numbering wont be long term I bet.

As mentioned before, in order to survive, the comics went from being 60 cents or whatever and being sold on stands, to being specialty items sold on comic book stores for something much higher like 5 bucks. The times are changing, and no one other than the regulars go to comic shops to buy and even those are dropping on their purchases gradually. Comics are in the mainstream big time because of the movies so they are doing a great job in exposing what comic books really are and removing some of that stigma that it used to carry with it. The time to bring a wider audience is now and its time to simplify it and to allow someone that is too intimidated or has no intentions in going to a comic shop to pick up some comics. The problem with continuity is that it will always be an issue. Even with the Ultimate line, their main thing was no continuity to worry about but today it has its fair share of it.

Something had to be done and attracting new readers is healthy to keep the industry going. I personally believe that comic book stores are going to hurt a bit but them are the breaks in this new age of tech.

It won't be the same to me if they get new #1's and then they pull some "legacy numbering" crap later on. Either Action Comics has a 1-1000 run where there is every issue published (like Action Comics # 939), or not. They break the numbering the series is over and then faking in an issue #1,000 is a sales stunt.

Yeah, I remember all those Mortal Kombat fatalities in Silver Age comics. Or not.

:(

Just take the damn compliment! :oldrazz:

I've known you on here for years and I hate to call you out, but I have to ask... How?

Much as I hate to admit it, Superman is totally broken. Growing up in the late 80's and 90's, I LOVED Superman, he's always been my favorite, no questions asked. Crisis was awesome for me. It made everything new and fresh and accessible.

I stuck with him through the years. I was actually dying on a hospital bed when my buddy brought me a copy of Superman #123 (Electro Supes, after I'd been away for a while, being sick and all)... And as much as I hated the new direction, I was still interested. It was still Superman... Whether or not I wanted something else...

After many years of faithful reading, eventually I got Superman. Certain creators got it (Johns, Donner, Frank) and really made it happen for me with building more of a deep rich history (with the Donnerverse, but I was okay with that after all the failed Zod reboots...) But then they went off in a direction that wasn't friendly to anyone that hadn't been reading for the previous year...

So it seems to me that good, high profile creators can only do so much, but once they're gone, we're screwed...

What can they do with the existing universe to make it better than a reboot?

Well that's stupid...

While I would rather have Action and Detective keep their numbers, there's no denying that Action #1000, no matter what number it was the month before, is HUGE, and DESERVES to be presented as such...

It'll still be fake to me. I'll buy the new Action, Superman, Batman and Detective on their own merits, but I will no longer feel obligated to buy Detective just because I have the book from #300-up, etc.

I guess I could see that from the collector's point of view...

I definitely wouldn't mind if they kept Detective and Action on the regular numbers, seeing as how they were originally sort of anthology books anyway...

Sorry for calling it stupid, just my nature :yay:

I'm kind of confused how anyone can have a strong opinion at the moment, it's not even had any official statement from DC.

Morrison's Superman sounds good.

A reboot? I don't want that, it's a stupid idea but DC has been vapid and stale for going on ten years now so maybe they need it.

It's fine by me if they renumber it, but it would be better to keep their numbers, since Detective and Action Comics are nearing their four digit numbers. :D

You're asking a bit much if you expect things to be exactly like the 60s again. Even if there was no Crisis, things wouldn't have remained the same. You still would have the same gradual change in tone and style that the comics have always gone through, since the beginning.

How in the world are you confused...?

Way to ride the fence....

I hate the sound of this reboot

At the moment the only dc comic book I intend to buy is the Batwoman ongoing series. That's the only new series from DC that interests me

Nothing's going to stop me from reading Morrison's Superman book.

I might buy this comic book too

Morrison on Superman is going to be epicly epic

I forgot the mantra of the comic book community was to have strong opinions on things we know relatively nothing about.

Okay, you just stay where you want to. But when you feel like commenting on something that's happening, don't get mad at me for quoting you, deal?

Naw, you just forgot how to have an opinion... Sorry...
