Keep Babs crippled for her to be Oracle.
Keep Tim as Red Robin.
Keep Dick as Batman.
Keep Damian as Robin and Bruce's son.

That's pretty much what I'm asking for DC, keep it that way.

You're basing this off of an article from Bleeding Cool(who have already been wrong about a lot of aspects of the changes). Sure, it could happen but there's absolutely no reason to start worrying until we have more information directly from DC.
I hope I'm wrong.
Pessimists can only be positively surprised tho, so I'm gonna assume the worst.

They should just leave all of Batman's legacy from 1988 till today alone...

The Batworld is the only thing that has grown and changed in all of DC, and is the ****.

If anything like Killing Joke, Death In A Family, Knightfall/End, Contagion/Legacy, NML, Murderer?, Officer Down, Hush, RIP, and Inc. gets erased then I'm going freak out...

That's not remotely true.

Since ~1994 for the main character's worlds...

Everyone else has been status-quo, other than a few minor things with Green Lanterns and the whole Spectre & The Spirit stuff (who were originally Batman characters, so more points for Batman there).

Superman world is no different since his return from the death, other than he has became more and more pathetic.

What about Barry coming back and Superman having a whole other Krypton pop up? Those werent growths or changes for either of those franchises antsman41?

There are a few things each in 20 years; ie: Superman's death/return, Lex as President, Supergirl and marriage...

Bats has had like 100...

-Babs got paralyzed/Oracle
-Dick becomes Nightwing/Batman/Nightwing (his own city)/Batman
-Jason Todd Robin/death/resurrection/Red Hood
-Gordon was fired/hired/gives up on bats/shot-retired
-Bruce was broken/retired/returned/disappeared/framed/bacame a father/was killed in sense
-Tim Drake becomes Robin/father killed/Red Robin
-Damien Wayne

and that is just grazing the surface. I'm not trying to be a dick, but this reboot is very bad for Batman. It might be good for the rest of DC but isn't for the man in black. He's loosing too much history if they do actually reboot.

I feel that no matter what any of us feel - be it positive or negative - on the matter, will be of no consequence. What will be though, is the gargantuian amount of publicity they're getting from this whole debacle. Not outright saying if it's a reboot or a relaunch, having mixed reports from all over the industry, it's all one big giant mystery. So the sales will spike bigtime for the #1's and probably 2's but will teeter way the hell down once the first 3 or so issues have come out.

Guess they just need to do this every 6 months or so to keep the numbers high then :awesome:

Will Batman lose that part of his history where when he was facing the incarnation of Evil, he decided to throw his morals to the wind and use a gun?

Cause that would be :awesome:

:D

Provided the stories are good, they'll probably bounce back to right where they have been for years now. Some longtime readers may step away, but they'll inevitably come back or be replaced. Amazing Spider-Man's sales since "OMD" prove that. Big dip initially, but they've evened out and are now fairly healthy. And I don't even think this is going to offend longtime readers as much as "OMD" did.

I'm going with positive for now. It really depends on what the actual relaunch will end up being exactly...

I honestly think the big news and the big change is DC going digital, and creating a definitive jumping on point for that digital expansion. Which I think is a great move business-wise, and I'm really excited about that.

Depending on what they do with continuity, I could go either way with the creative side of the event.

Babs doesn't have to be crippled to still be Oracle. It's a more original and better codename than Batgirl anyway and they could always create her a cool costume based on the Oracles of mythology. She could still do mostly the information and investigative work and occasionally do field work as Oracle. The only reason she has stayed crippled is because she's their biggest character with a handicap. And while I do think that's a good thing in a way, the fact that she has stayed crippled and Bruce got his back broken by Bane and shows no signs of it even harming him is somewhat misogynistic.

I hope this new direction they are going in with their female characters ends or cuts down the whole women in refrigerators thing. I don't like seeing superheroines as victims, especially when they do really sick stuff to them. Superheroines should be as inspirational and as impressive as the superheroes are. Instead they're objectified and victimized way too much. Of course, this is a very, very old problem in superhero comics.

I'm gonna stab myself if anything gets erased. -_-

Oh yeah. Good point. :D

I tend to think it's quite good to have a disabled hero.

Having a disabled hero in a world where she can easily receive a cure/fix is not good at all, same reason with cancer or hiv even existing. Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor... All capable of creating a cure for it in 5 minutes if they wanted to.

Yeah, but that's kind of one of those dead zones of comic storytelling. With all the geniuses of the DCU and MU, there should already be a cure for every disease, serum for immortality, solution to global pollution, etc. It's part of the suspension of disbelief you undertake with stuff like this every time you read a mainstream superhero comic.

Reed already did all of that. He found out if he cured cancer something worse would pop up and it would interfere with the natural progression of our species. We aren't meant to be cancer free for a century. Or some such crud.
