The Joker can often hold his own in a fight. He usually relies on some of his nasty toys or guns.

Though, his ability to rarely lose consciousness when getting the crap kicked out of him always astounds me. The hammering he took from Batman in Knightfall is my favourite.

Bane beating him up in No Man's Land was cool, too.

Joker should be able to A) Take an ass-whooping and not stop laughing and B) Pull some trick out of nowhere to level the playing field

But he is insane and he is not afraid to throw a punch, even if he knows it'll brake his hand.
like in B89 right? thats how i always thought of joker to be too.

i think he should be a weakling, cuz he is so damn puny lookin everytime i see him or think of him, even in the comics. hes more like lex luthor, mind over matter. he lets his punks do the fighting, cuz hes not stupid enough to fight batman himself. and when he does, hes just a bad fighter and couldnt save himself at all. i like how in B89 he tried to throw a punch and wound up hurting himself, that happens all the time in the comics ive read. but thats how i think joker should be. if they make a him a good fighter, i dunno, that wont be very jokerish. but seeing as how they are trying to make a more serious joker, they may make him a better fighter.

The closet thing we have had to canon Joker on film was the Animated series, and he smacked around Bats quite a few times.

I want Joker to be an extermely dirty fighter, thus making him a pretty decent fighter. While batman is actually throwing punches the Joker could try to take his eyes out or something, just stuff Batman would never expect.

I see the Joker as having a fighting style similiar to De Niro's character 'Johnny Boy' when he fights in the pool hall in 'Mean Streets'.

No real prowess or fighting skill - just mad as a hatter - wild and unpredictable - prone to using whatever is at hand as a weapon, and once he sees an opening he lashes out repeatedly; almost in a frenzy.

Being Batman specially trained to fight 600 guys, Joker should be weak by comparision.

After that training Bruce had, d'you think any kind of trick would be unexpected for him?

Joker goes for his eyes and he gets his arms broken in 3 before he feels the pain.

Nice comparison.
Torres, Babel and Benayoun FTW!

there will always be something hes unready for, whether it is a flower full of acid, or a swift kick to the nuts, Joker will give him something hes not expecting.

I think he should be a average fighter but not too good

The acid flower sounds ok. Thee kick in the balls no chance. Any decent fighter is prepared for that.

For what we saw in BB, Batman is trained for far worse things than dirty fight.

I think he should be an average fighter.

He should use some dirty tactics here and there.

The Joker should bite off one of Batma's ears.

How so? I've never seen the Joker actually dominate anybody in a fair fight.

Read his first appearance in Batman #1. One punch and one kick takes Batman up and over a bridge during their first physical encounter.

Since Nolan is taking inspiration from early Joker, he should fight like him - quick and scrappy, while incorporating the dirty tricks and weapons of latter day Joker - knives, crowbar, etc.

Batman could whoop him with his eyes closed.

Hell even Commissioner Gordon or Robin could kick the Jokers ass in hand to hand combat. It's not his fighting technique that makes the Joker dangerous.

He shouldn't be that great of a fighter but sneaky and quick as hell.

Like others have said, he always uses tricks and the environment to give him the huge edge. He is a sly guy and he fights like that too.

I think it would be pretty tough to fight a guy on the street if he's wearing a ton of armor. The only way Joker could win a fight is playing real dirty. Or a straight shot with a .45

I wonder if there's a Batcup underneath that suit.

Maybe I am wrong but Ledger is much bigger then Bale.

Ledger is a whopping one centimeter taller than Bale is. Anyway, isn't the Joker usually portrayed as tall, if not taller than Batman is? Heath Ledger isn't that bulky as well.

:cwink: Joker is always better when he's crushed by Batman but managed to win at last with a treacherous trick !!! I always had a hard time imagininig joker and Batman fighting against one another just like Ra's and Batsy in Begins !:whatever: :whatever:

And I would even say that I prefer to watch (on screen)when Joker is passive, defeated by Batman and Joker laughing because of it !!!!
