Just out of curiosity, how much do you guys spend on comics? And how many titles do you have on your pull list?

Since going all digital - and since I get a 14% discount from my job on itunes cards - I've tried to spend one 20 dollar gift card a week on comics. With my discount, it ends up costing me like 69 dollars a month. I have 32 comics on my pull list, plus I usually have enough credit left over to buy a back issue or two a week as well.

It's not unusual for me to spend right around $200.00 a week on comics. That is with my 20% discount, too. I get all Marvel titles, most DC titles, and a bunch of Independant books. Also, I grab variants when available; but, only at the cover price. As for trades, I usually only get the Showcase books from DC and the Essential books from Marvel. The exception is when new material comes out, like a recent hardcover Batman trade and the upcoming Marvel hardcovers, that reimagines the origins of various characters. (I think Fantastic Four comes out this next month to kick it all off.)

When I started collecting, 5 bucks a month. For one title Wolverine. Now? Since I only collect trades, maybe, 200.00 every six months... I just caught up to modern comics.

I read, Uncanny X-men, Uncanny X-Force, Wolverine (Though I most likely will Drop Wolverine when Jason Aaron is done his run, and substitute it with Wolverine and the X-men), DareDevil, Punisher, Incredible Hulk and Walking Dead. And occasionally buy something kind of out left field if I see it for a cheap price. Like Essential Namor, or Walt Simonsons Thor, Atomic Robo.

Before when I didn't have so many expenses I would go every week to the comic book store plus to a monthy convention I'd say I would spend about maybe $80-$100 dollars a month.

Nowadays I've dropped in buying floppies and waiting for the TPB and only if the story is worth it, and also I'm rummaging through the bargain longboxes for that hidden gem to complete collections.

I'd say now a month I spend just under $30 dollars.

On new comics I spend about 40 bucks a month. But I get into a habit of trying to collect the whole series of comics so eBay gets a lot of money from me. I'm currently trying to collect the whole series of Amazing Spider-Man comics. From 98 to now so it can really vary a good bit.

Wow, you must be rolling in dough ;).

I budget myself $100 a week, but it's rare I get up to that these days. I get all of DC, most of Dynamite, a couple Image/Top Cows, and various misc. books that catch my fancy. These days, I usually have to order a couple books from another retailer as my shop is unreliable in getting them.

I try to keep it around $100 a month. I'd like to go less but just can't seem to cut enough books to make that happen.

I curently buy 20 ongoings and around 5 minis a month give or take.

Yeah, I have hard time dropping a title.

I only keep it to 40 bucks a month. I'm a broke college student as it is.

$12-15 a month on issues from the comic store, and I have five (soon to be four probably) subscriptions from Marvel, which come out to about $9 per month. So in all, I spend a little over $20 per month on issues. I don't really have a consistent pattern of trade-buying; basically, there are a handful of series for which I always buy the newest trade when it comes out, and other than that, I mostly buy ones that I can find a good deal on.

I'm not sure as a Brit if anyone is really interested in what I spend, but at the moment i'm spending around 20 pounds, which I think is around 32 US dollars. Trying to keep it in a realistic amount as it's far too easy to spend a fortune on titles!

Well, it's not the .35 cents a week I used to spend on them when I started...

I spend anywhere from $75 - $100 a month on just my weekly books. But I'm really thinking of waiting for the collected editions to come out and just buy those as I'd rather have a book case full of those and a million long boxes around the house. It's just hard because I'm so addicted to my weekly Wednesday fix!!!

I average about $20-$25 a week, with some exceptions. Some weeks are cheaper and some weeks are higher. That averages out to about $80-$100 a month on comics. The LCS where I shop has an unofficial policy where regulars get about $1-$3 knocked off their stack, especially if they buy a few $3.99 comics.

Since I got done playing catch-up last year (after 20-25 years out of collecting), it's averaging out to about $30/week. Say 2-6 books/week, and 1 trade/month.

Nowhere near what I used to spend. I'm only on 6 monthlies now, so I'm around $25 a month, give or take an issue.

I cannot imagine a world where I can drop $100-$200 a week on comics like it ain't no thing. Good for you guys.

Well, can't speak for the others but I never said it "ain't no thing." I budget myself to $100 so I don't go overboard, and I use whatever's left over for grocery shopping. Most average weeks I actually spend no more than $60. Then there are the weeks with a billion releases at once, more overpriced books, or I need storage supplies so that eats it up. My 20% discount at my shop helps a great deal in getting me more for less.

With finances getting tighter around the Hobbit household I'm officially dropping Scarlet Spider, New Mutants, and Green Lantern. So that's 3 less ongoings. X-23 only had an issue or two left that I won't be bothering with and I won't be continuing with Avengers Academy, which I was debating on for X-23's role. I'm also dropping the minis X-Club and likely Wolverine & the X-Men: Alpha & Omega. I may or may not pick up Academy's issues with the Runaways but we'll see.

So I'll be saving $25 in February and $19 in March if I'm doing my math right (and am remembering the double shippings correctly).

Just a tip for people wanting to save money on Trades in Toronto (if anyone is near there). There is a place called BMV right next to The Worlds Biggest Book Store. They sell all their trades, for HALF the American cover price. I always stop in when I'm in T.O. Like Walt Simonsons Thor, I recently I got volumes 1-4 for around 40 bucks.

For those of you that wait for the TPB, do you buy the hardcovers or softcovers?

I know it's a bit of a gamble because the hardcovers are more sturdy and are slightly larger to better appreciate the artwork but are also heavy when putting them away in longboxes, plus they're like $5 dollars more than softcovers.

With softcovers you get the same thing only regular comic book size and their more easy to handle when reading and aren't heavy, plus they're a few dollars cheaper. The bad thing is that softcovers usually take a year after they're HC versions are out.

IMO I would only but a HC if the story and/or title is worth it.

I spent about $50 every 2 weeks when I still bought books 6 months ago.

When I would buy TPBs I would buy softcovers more because they cost less , but I loved hardcovers because they were more sturdy.
