You guys sure are critical about hair when it comes to this franchise. :cwink:

no way around it goblin obviously sucks in this film
i liled raimis look way better atleast he had a mask
and pumpkin bombs
this looks titally ridiculus
it aint hard to make a goblin
look at the orcs on lord of the rings lol
people dont want to see this crap the hair sucks and pisses me off smh man
and im not a fan of ultimate goblin either
gg is what jpker is to batman so he overall deserves the most justice
but justice wont be served in this film

The suit Harry wears is clearly incomplete (green panels aren't on the entire suit, only one side)...

So maybe when Norman becomes the Goblin, he'll wear a completed version of the suit? Hopefully with some sort of a helmet too.

troll alert!!

I honestly loved Raimi's GG look. Still do.

Honestly, I'd take Raimi Goblin over...this. That hair is just too overpoweringly ridiculous looking.

The suit looks cool, though. They should have just had hairloss and skin problems be a result of the serum (or whatever transforms him) and make him sort of like Ultimate Goblin. Bald and a sickly green skin tint (not full on bright green) with slightly warped features.

I'm hopeful we'll get a pure GG with Norman in the next films. Maybe Harry will die in this one, prompting Norman to spring into action, forming the Sinister 6 and becoming GG to honor Harry's memory. I seriously doubt Norman is just gonna be an old man manipulating everyone from behind the shadows. It'd be a wasted opportunity.

The Green Goblin suit reminds me of mega man haha.

It wasn't until the trailer that you can see the suit is "incomplete". Not sure if I dig that and would wanna see the full suit. I mean, the fact that it's incomplete does give a messy, "asymmetrical" feel and that's probably what Webb was going for.

Anybody have a guess as to why the one arm is different from the other? Maybe the bulky one has some Goblin tricks in it like the spark zappers from the finger tips.

I think Webb should use something similar for Norman's GG, if we're eventually going to get back to citing goblins from LOTR to justify a more comic accurate appearance. They can explain it as a cross-species chimera.

The suit is a prototype and simply unfinished. That's all.

Well, if I'm strictly judging his look...I don't care for it. Looks quite a bit different from the poster, but still uninspired, and very bland. The geek in me wants to say that the premise behind the design is a bit of a cop out, in that it eschews a reflection of the Goblin's personality for the high-tech exoskeleton route...again. On the other hand, if the performance and execution is well done then it won't bother me in the bigger picture; while I do have my opinion on the design itself, I'm not that much of a stickler when it comes to looks if the performance and execution is well done. Dehaan seems to be bringing his A-game from the trailer bits, but then again, I thought the same of Cavill from the MoS trailers, so I'll reserve judgment until the movie drops.

In short, I'd like to see a costume/outfit/whatever that really reflects the insanity, evil, and instability of the Goblin persona, but if what they've went with works in terms of the film, then no sweat off my back. I guess we can always hold out hope for Norman.

i understand where you guys are comming from. but in my opinion i hate how harry goblin looks
id love to see a classic look not a spiked up haired weirdo nothing about it seems gonlin like to me. i want a mask atleast looks like a slightly crazier version of sm3s goblin which sucked. i dont care bout seeing the guys face that much aint like he is competing for an oscar

Well, sadly in this day and age there's no room for charm and creativity in superhero movie characters. Hollywood tries its best to bastardise classic story lines and origins of the heroes. I mean just look at the new X-men movie. They put Wolverine take Kitty's place to time travel in past. Or the Avengers 2 and the complete absence of Pym in the creation of Ultron. You can see the pattern there.
There is no reason why we can't get a faithfull Goblin with a mask and hat/helmet that doesn't look like a techno freak with exargeratted armour all over the place. Well, maybe in a future reboot that will respect more the source material maybe.

Anyways, superhero movies are starting to become a little irrelevant really. It would be much better if they were taking place in the 60's where people didn't have much to be awed in their every day life and a superhero would sure be something extraordinary to watch. I mean, with all this crazy technology that exists today, there is no point in the superhero concept. Their powers could be easily be replicated or get surpassed by advanced tech. While in the early comics, every hero and his power was something random and happened only once hence making it something special.

I was really thinking we were gonna get a cool Goblin suit in SM3,but no.Then I was hoping for one in this franchise, and again nope.I don't get what is so hard for us to have Goblin ears, big nose,Goblin eyes, green skin, hood or helmet.

I rather have the New Goblin costume than this one.

One other thing that bothers me is the lazy route of the Oscorp villain inc thing. All the rich history from the comics gets thrown out of the window. I wanna see Adrian Toomes creating and testing his wings, Octapus working with his tentacles etc and their motivations. Just take the time and let every character be explored instead of making them all into one creation and limiting the scope.

:up::up::up:

I am not a fan of everything emanating from Oscorp either. I understand that this route makes it easier and more convenient to fast track these character and compress storylines, etc...but you're absolutely right, something is lost in the process.

My reading of much of the Spider-Man (and Marvel Universe) is the sense of chance or "fate" that each of these individuals encounter. Parker was bitten by the spider, survived and was granted powers at 1 out of a billion odds. In the TASM series, everything is a conspiracy and controlled by one evil empire. That's fine, I suppose, but that's not the Spider-Man I'm familiar with.

You just summed up the charm and magic of classic Marvel comics in a few words, that movies and many fans of newer generations don't have respect for. Maybe many will call me an extremist, but my ideal superhero Marvel movies, would be set in the 60s and include the Celestial beings and the Evolutionaries in the script.

I'd love to see an FF film modelled after the traditional Jack Kirby visuals, featuring the High Evolutionary and the Celestials, etc... I take it you're a big fan of "Earth X" (great book)?

Charm and Magic are great terms for describing the original Marvel Universe. It's fate and chance smiling upon the underdog (or calling them to action at least). It seems that a lot of that is lost in the TASM series :csad:

I dont know how many will undestand it, but Webb had idea more taking parallels with manga more then comics when he wanted gave us untold story. Whole story in manga (shounen) come with hero, whole plot and from that they create bigger story and villains, main love etc. Which often like in movies villain comes at end desribed as sympathetic more then evil.

Also like in classic shounen Parker in this Webb's movies, he was as destined to be born with those powers. It's not like he was bitten by spider and he gained accidently power, but as he was destined (his father work and father experiments on him). There seems to be reason dat Peter had formula hidden, most likely caused genetic mutation with spider bite, from which Oscorp trying to create similar serum. I like different approach to series then from accidently getting powers heroes or villains. Always in shadows hiding something bigger, calling foreshadowing for next arc. Which at end come hunting shounen hero past (in this case Peter parents and Peter himself read Harry). You dont see this much in comics.

Sony's in-house special effects company is terrible. They have some serious work to do because some of these shots are straight up laughable.

Those shots of Spidey vs "Goblin" look like they were ripped from a CG cutscene in a video game.
