World How to make the spiderman web shooters.

you wouldn't need it to be half an inch thick fishing line can hold 400 lbs at 2mm thick I think it's nylon fishing line.

you could probably mix some hot melt glue with nylon or something just a thought.

Speaking from my minimal experience.., that isn't possible without a strong acid (or a modified nylon) I tried an experiment with nylon and regulating the heat is a pain. I actually used hot glue and nylon. they didn't mix but if you coat the nylon with hot glue, it has strange properties. Monofilament line can do wonders, I agree. However, you saying that inspired a thought. I just did a quick search and looky what was on google.

A nylon resin that melts at under 250 degrees fahrenheit.

this cordless gun melts substances at 250 degrees fahrenheit. It's not exactly nylon but this might tickle your fancy.

So guys, with this forum being as big as it is, with people joining it here and there wanting different things, do you guys want to split it? I can make two new forums as well as sustaining this one. This would become a mix of Shooter and formula, The first new one would be just shooter, and the second new one would be just formula. If you guys want it to stay, that's ok. I just think that 18 pages is hard to sift through as a new guy, and people can get what they want.

This is just a suggestion. quote this message if you want to vote yes or no. within the week I will make a decision.

Hmmm.... I see, thanks :wall:. if you add a new thread to divide it up it wouldn't matter to me.

What's with the head banging?

The thing is, polyamides don't like reacting. The nylon polymer shouldn't be reactive so if it has a similar melting point and both of them solidify quickly, then you would increase the strength of your glue due to the colloidal suspension. If you add a third strong substance, the glue would bond the nylon mod and the strong substance without chemical bonding but still making it super strong. Then make a mold of a glue stick out of plaster of paris and melt the sticks in the mold to make your own glue polymer sticks.

the headbanging was for me trying to think hard when I'm tired, but, the hot melt glue and nylon have melting points within 10 degrees Celsius of each other.

I just found out that cyanoacrylate melts at 365 degrees fahrenheit.

ah. That is of course for that resin. Most aren't like that. It will take some searching if you want it. Yeah, CA is pretty hard to melt, When it is first made I think they break it with heat to make it into monomers so that makes sense.

CA will, but maybe not the resin. Resins are available in very many applications, and they are responsible for a good number of adhesives.

so they would still form strands when melted and extruded through a spinnerette. But, might not have a high tensile strength.

The net is a simple spinnerette design that I have on another page. I spent a cross-country drive from winter break trying to figure it out. There is a tube that flies spreadshot from the center. On the outside, there was a turbine that spins and the fluid will spin and harden, wrapping the inside strands. I found a comic image that supports it. It is on another page, but seeing as though there are near twenty pages now, I'll repost it.

It's from Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 2, right?
Weird, but I have a version when he doesn't say anything in this pic.

Now you have ME confused, White widow. I have one question: Won't that just spin a circle, not a web?

would it work better if the holes in the spinnerette we're turned outward and the outside hole is spun.

Also, the thinner it gets, Spidey 44, the stronger you have to be to swing from it. Remember, I am making this for myself, but sadly, I am not Spiderman. I still work out though.

While the subject is up, I can't believe what they did in Ultimate Spiderman. Killed Gwen, AGAIN? Then brought her back as a CLONE? Ohhhhhhhh, so original, right? (NOT!)

White Widow do you know why hot melt glue and nylon don't mix?

Yah, you are right. But the title must have some assosiation with this thread, or else the new guys will still come here and check up on evverything. Lets do it.

I agree. We should make one forum for the cartridges, one for fluid and properties of fluid, and one for the shooter.

Yes, they will still form strands, but to get even more strength, the mix has to be a consistent pattern throughout the fluid. For example:

ggggggg (where G is glue and N is nylon resin)
nggggg
ggggngg
ggggnnn
nnnnnnn
nnnnnnn
nnnnnnn
This isn't a good mix, so it will have the tensile strength of glue, then nylon resin. The glue might snap before the nylon can show off it's abilities.

gngngngn
ngngnnngn
ggngngngng
gngngngngn
nnngggngngn
ngngngngng
gnngngngng
gngngngngn
This is a much better mix and because the glue will hold whatever it touches, it will hold a more stable property if nylon resin mixtures are evenly distributed. You would need to make a well mixed colloid in liquid so that when it solidifies, it will share the properties of both of them.

The only reason that glue and nylon don't mix is because their melting points are so different.
