World How to make the spiderman web shooters.

Welcome to the site Spyder! I'm not a typically big member on this site; but seeing as White Widow left, I will welcome you. White Widow was the starting user of this forum, and began with the issue of trying to create a formula. With the help of JMA610 among others, he successfully created a formula. We're currently working on a shooter to propel the fluid. If you have any ideas, don't be afraid to pitch in.

Coolio! Think I can send him an email or somethin? For shooting a liquid, have you people thought of propane or pump action tanks? You could make a battery powered piston.

It's ok t-pott, I didn't leave, I just come less often. I see where you are coming from with propane, but that is dangerous. Propane has a flammability rating of 4 on the msds. That is the highest flammability rating I have ever seen on one of those things. Pump action tanks work but you'd need a strong battery. Try using a noble gas like helium, argon, krypton, radon, or neon. They aren't flammable and non reactive. As for the formula, I created one that might work, and theoretically it is strong, but new research suggests that depending on how much of the agents I use might make the formula insoluable and that isn't good. The positive news is that with the superglue being reactive with that kind of polymer, I might be able to combine it with an elastomeric glue like e-6000 to make a strong elastic crosslink.

The first image is a pre-existing web shooter that can hold about ten pounds and is made of several glues.

The second image is the nylon idea. The bottom part is a whole chamber of gas and not co2 There are still improvements to be made.

The final image was my very first idea for a web shooter. This doesn't fire the webs but it provides swinging rope that retracts. (Mind you, the wire would have to be 300lb test instead of 250 lbs test) There are many edits that can be done here.

I had an idea from all of these is, you need ALOT of fluid, or at least alot of web. So instead of building a wrist web shooter, why not build one that takes up the whole forearm, As long as the wrist is mobile and the thing goes under a long sleeve shirt, it shouldn't matter.

would the retractable wire idea work ? in theory it does but could it be physically made?

thansk

It won't lift you, and it doesn't fire, but otherwise, there should be no issues. Welcome Mr or Mrs. Web of a spider. Please enjoy your stay on this forum.

Hi. I'm new to this site. Spider-man is my favorite hero and i think it would be awesome if we could actually make web shooters. I don't really know much about chemistry or engineering (nothing at all actually. i haven't payed attention in science class at all this year lol), but i want to try and help anyway. So how do you make the web fluid?

Welcome, Randumbz some of us have our own ideas for the fluid, and and I'm not sure how big other peoples shooter is going to be mine will be kinda small.

Hey guys! I'm BACK!!! Well at least a little. I won't be as obsessive with the site as I used to be. (and trust me I was.) So here's the situation. I have forgotten most of what I learned on this project. I can't understand my explanations for some of the device components, and I'm pretty sure that some of you are ahead of me on this project. Luckily however, I found my old notebook on this stuff. I relearned all I could on the web shooter, and I've scrapped the formula due to a flaw with it's structure. I hadn't considered reactivity with a few plastic components.

So that's the bad news. The good news however is that soon, I'll be much more prepared for this project. I will be taking a plastics/adhesives class where we will get to make our own glues and polymers. I am also taking a welding course, so soon I can make the shooter itself. Finally, I got a camera so that I can post pictures when I get them.

Now I want to bring up another material for the cuff.

I'm sure all of you have seen this picture. I'd like to thank MR. Aydin for showing me this and for getting me into this project again. The point of this is that the cuff can be made of any material as long as it can be connected to a pice that is sturdy enough for the cartridges.

I'm still going to pop in and out on this project but when I come forward with a break through, you'll know about it. This time, I think I can at least make a shooter.

Hey, im neW on this site the only reason i made an account was about this so whats ur progress? I hade the greatest idea for a web shooter ive been sketching and blueprinting thiS for years . So yeah im going to start one of these things i hade ideas with nylon and motors . Thnxz for inspiring me and ill be here once in a while if u let me . Okay by

Hello! Welcome to the site, Tyseg1cia. We're glad to have you here! We have just reached an impass on both the shooters and their formula. The formula will take a while, but I will be able to complete a shooter within a couple months I believe. I have to become proficient with welding materials, which starts on August 15th. As for the formula, I'm constantly toying with it. If you want to join in we'd be glad to have you. All we ask is that you ask as many questions as you want and that we should all be respectful, though we've never had any problems like that here.

So to recap what you've missed (I don't expect you to read all 20 web pages),

I'm white_widow and I started this after I was a spidey at a birthday party. Soon, thebatsam joined in. We toyed with the properties of adhesion and nylon. Shortly we realized that Nylon couldn't be kept in liquid form and nanoglue (our main glue) Was both difficult to obtain and needed to be kept at a high temperature.

Around this time spectacular23, stanleewannabe, symbioteman, and jma610 joined the project. We started toying around with solvents. The reason we didn't stick with shear thinning liquids by this point is because only some colloids have them, and scientists haven't found a trend yet. We made an entirely new formula. It had too many crosslinks (chemical bonds between monomers). Too many bonds will cause a substance to become brittle unless it is between a flexiblt monomer and a rigid one.

Finally, we began prototyping with cartridges. Jma created some good ones, and I created a shooter without cartridges. We started trying to design valves, because regular home depot valves don't cut it.

Finally, people started coming and going. Some talked about glue gun shooters and others about nylon glues. We split the forum into two topics.

So around this time, we have finally designed cartridges, shooter, valve, and started the formula. We have figured everything out, and now we are adding some extra feature designs. Soon we will be prototyping. Preferably, we would get a functional shooter by July 3rd, but that might be pushing it unless some of us go to college. I think the only ones in that age range are thebatsam, Stanleewannabe, and myself.

So now you are officially caught up. This site is now kind of a dead end. The two active sites are:

This is for the shooter:

And this is for my deviantart page which contains some designs: http://technolgytheorist.deviantart.com/gallery/

IT's nice to meet you. I hope to hear from you soon. ^^

Sooo dont msg u on here?
And im goung to be making a web site all about web shooters

really? Do tell! As for messaging, I usually don't check this forum page, but if you want me to check I will. If you are making a web shooter site, I'd love to be a part of that.

Yes yes im getting started right away . Ill msg the link once im done

sounds good! As for the facebook thing.., yeah. I'm robbie ross. My picture is a cartoon red headed man in a trench coat.

Hey, really like the thread. Get it? Thread... anyway, White Widow, I looked at your formula site and it sounds like you are looking for a way to make graphene at home. I have good news and bad news, if you don't already know about it already. The good news is that I know how to make graphene using only some tape, a cell phone, and a pencil (regular NOT mechanical). The bad news is that I don't know how to make it in bulk, so if all you need is the molecular properties, then I can help with that, but as for making a lot quickly, you would just have to make it over and over again, which would not be very fun to make for a few thousand cubic inches. I'm talking ouch-ahoozie.

First off, Welcome Ultimate spider. We're glad to have you aboard. I also caught the thread pun (One of my friends makes a reputation off of them). As for the scotch tape method, I kind of figure that it wouldn't be efficient. I'm not sure if you saw the post, but there is a less painful, albiet a little more expensive way to do it in bulk. It requires a lighter, magnesium, and dry ice. I'm glad that you're already researching!

Ah well no worries. By any chance, would little 16G co2 cartridges work in any way in the design for the webshooter? They are about 9 US dollars at Dick's Sporting Goods (I don't know what country/state you live in). Or you could get a 20 ounce tank. I don't know if it would be okay for the design at all, but you could get a CO2 filling station here:
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2714229
and a coil hose here:
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3319193

I guess we would need to know the mixing directions for the web fluid so we would know how many chambers were on this shooter.

Hello i'm new on the site and want to join the discussion about building web shooters.

I'd like to see some pitures of your projects:yay:

Hello and welcome to our site! We are certainly gaining quite a bit of people. Ok, well first off thank you for joining you guys. Let's get started.

Ultimate Spider: I love those ideas. I think if they were cheaper, I would totally go for that. What those guys have is an air system that works. That's what we need right now. I think you may have answered my dilema, well if I can get some of those supplies.

Specspider: Hello, I think I met you on Facebook. Nice to see that you've joined in. All pictures will be on my deviant art account or my website. (Yeah that's how far gone I am.

Now guys, I would like to ask that you keep all comments coming in through these links:

This is for the shooter:
http://forums.superherohype.com/show...=351895&page=7

This is for the formula:
http://forums.superherohype.com/show...=351889&page=8

This is my website (I update when we discover something):

http://madscientistslair.weebly.com/index.html

And this is for my deviantart page which contains some designs: http://technolgytheorist.deviantart.com/gallery/

The reason for that is because I don't check this site as often and I might miss your comment for a while.
