I personally was pissed when i first found out that there was no firebird, but after the movie I was just in awww!!! The special effects and her acting was brilliant

My first reaction was  And after the movie was finished it turned into

Because she turned from world scale threat to mere sideplot after Xavier's death.

Yeah pretty much. The buildup with Scott and Xavier were nice (though keeping Scott would have been wiser). But she just turned out to be Magneto's goon and an utterly useless addition to the plot.

but did you think her display of power at the end at alcatraz was awsome?

the firebird never even went through my head....

i thought it was ****ing awesome!

I was wondering how they were going to do it. Because of course the Phoenix is not going to be some alien entity. But the way they did it....uh it could have been better. They just made Jean seem like a schizo. It was alright, I would have liked something a little different but whatever.

The only flaw that annoyed me was that i wanted more at the lake in terms of her entrance, i wanted her to burst out of the water at least maybe with fire around her (it didnt have to be a bird)

When she started to float I was so excited and was waiting for the firebird but we all know how that turned out....:(

The effects were nice, she looked totally menancing, but it pissed me off that she only floated around breaking **** into atoms.

Xavier says that the Phoenix is pure desire, joy and rage. We see the desire and joy part for a few minutes when she tries to seduce Wolverine. After that it's rage, Zombie state, rage.

I wonder how they will pull off the eventual good Pheonix. This was Dark Pheonix in this Movie. You just know Jean will come back as Good Pheonix.

I loved the Multiple Personality thing a lot.

And the fact that Xavier did it was great.

The blowing the **** out of people was off, but the rest was good.

i miss the firebird effect...you see it at the end of X2 and it's never even hinted at in this movie.

asides from that...i thought she was terrific.

Yeah. Her entrance sucked hard. It was just like all watery then, shes just standing there. She deserved better.

She should have burst from the water

And there were slight Ohmages in the lighting t the fire effect.

I still think that this was Madelyn and Sinister will show his face in X4 with Cyclops.

that's what i'm hoping/thinking aswell

I liked... she was a sick mutant... with another personality... it was cool to se Famke doing an ambigous character sometimes as Jean and sometimes as Phoenix... she was formidable...

Dany

Famke was good and the SFX were good (though I would have preferred the fire to blast up at the end and her to burn them and just not dissolve them)....

but the handelling of the story was wretched. I think her killing Xavier could have been powerful but was done poorly and we never were allowed to get in her head. There was no character development. She was just a special effect with a good actress in the command button. But when she takes backseat to the cure....what a waste.

And let's just not mention Wolverine becoming Cyclops here either.

I was a little disappointed by the story they came up with, but on the other hand, Famke's performance was unbelieveable and her effects were amazing though!!!

I absolutely loved phoenix! I was in awe

Problems:
1) There should have been a firebird. There was absolutely no reason why there shouldn't have been, it would have been awesome (though they kind of left something up to the imagination by the orange light at the beginning)
2) They should have shown her fly out of the water

But her effects and her acting was still AMAZING
I don't think she was downgraded after the Prof. X scene and really she was never a henchman of Magneto. She never allowed him to control her and never even fought for him. She just followed him and used her AWEsome power

There was no firebird effect. I didn't buy her as Magneto's underling at all. I refuse to believe he was able to control and manipulate her.

Plus Wolverine and Jean Grey = bull****.

Dark Phoenix was awesome. I just wish they did more with her in the final battle, or even on the GG bridge sequence. She just stood there a lot of times. If she was Magneto's 'weapon' he sure didn't use her at all. Makes you wonder why Mags didn't just tell Jean to destroy the military men, so the other mutants could live?

I miss the fire bird, but I think they made up for it with the other effects. I'm just glad the name Phoenix was actually mentioned, as I thought it wouldn't be. They really should've used the fire bird when she first meets scott...it would've made sense, and she was already glowing. A huge fire-telekinetic energy bird coming out of the water would've been fine. If you look hard enough it seems as though the water bursted out like wings. Don't know if that was intentional or not?

Her single flying scene should've been graceful, and goddess like. It wasn't all that, but nice to see her fly near fire, lol.

What do you call it if you're a world scale threat the first half of the movie and the other half do practically NOTHING?

She was easily the best part of the movie but felt poorly integrated into the rest of the film, the ending was like oh, uh the cure plot is done, everyone interested in the cure get off the stage, everyone interested in Jean get on and stop her.... And the finale would have been much more impactful if they focused on her effects on ALL the X-men through the movie.

They should have gone either with the cure plot or with the Phoenix plot. If the movie proved one thing is that it IS possible to build a whole movie around the Phoenix Saga, Avi Arad's bleating not withstanding.

I think her ending was great, after magneto got the cure, we saw wolverine sort of getting a hold of Jean, and the soldiers come with the cure guns and she just unleashes....like she said at the end to Logan "you did it for them" was GREAT!
